Mercedes-Benz begins marketing more versions of the new S-Class in Europe
Alongside the new Mercedes S-Class, on sale since last May, the brand’s dealerships are now marketing another 24 versions and engine options.

Last May, Mercedes-Benz began selling the new S-Class. And now that the first deliveries of units are starting, the star manufacturer is beginning to market new versions of the model in its dealerships across Europe, until the 24 versions that initially make up the S-Class range are complete.
Thus, buyers can choose from up to nine different petrol or diesel engines, rear-wheel drive or 4MATIC versions, short or long wheelbase body variants, and the always appealing ultra-sporty or ultra-luxurious versions, which come from the specialists at Mercedes AMG and Mercedes Maybach. Available to order, these latter models will begin deliveries from next October.
The new, electrifying in-line six-cylinder engine is now offered with two possible power ratings. In the S 450 (also available with 4MATIC all-wheel drive) it produces 270 kW/367 CV of power and delivers 500 Nm of peak torque, offering (depending on the version) a combined consumption of between 7.0 and 6.6 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of between 159 and 157 g/km. In the S 500, with a consumption of 6.6 l/100 km and 150 g/km of CO2 emissions, this engine delivers 320 kW/435 CV of maximum power and 520 Nm of torque. An additional 49-volt electric motor assists with take-off, providing 250 Nm of torque and an extra 16 kW of power, thanks to which both consumption and emissions have been notably improved. Compared with the V8 engine fitted to the previous S 500, its CO2 emissions have been reduced by a notable 22 percent.

It is also worth highlighting the significant increase in power of the six-cylinder engines in the S-Class, which bring them to the level of the previous eight-cylinder engines they replace, and which is also reflected in the model names, as these new six-cylinder models are now named S 450 and S 500.
At the top of the range sits the new S 600, equipped with a V12 engine producing 390 kW/530 CV, which delivers 830 Nm of peak torque. This engine offers a combined consumption of 11.6 l/100 km with combined emissions of 270 g/km of CO2. Above it is the new 12-cylinder engine fitted to the S 650, with no less than 463 kW/630 CV of power and a torque output of no less than 1,000 Nm. Its combined consumption is 12.7 l/100 km with combined emissions of 289 g/km of CO2.

But the true flagship will, as usual, be the sporty version developed by Mercedes’s AMG Motorsport division. This time equipped with the 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 that will power the Mercedes S 65 AMG, which, while delivering the same power and torque as the previous one, offers lower consumption and emissions thanks to the good work of the AMG engineers: 11.9 l/100 km of combined consumption and emissions of 279 g/km of CO2.
In Germany, the range prices start with the new S 350 d, which sells from 84,638 euros (88,446 euros with 4MATIC transmission), up to the 237,346 euros that the S 65 AMG costs.
Together with the new versions added to the range, Mercedes has also begun marketing the new Magic Body Control dynamic suspension system, which automatically detects and smooths out the bumps ahead of the car on its route. Magic Body Control, with a curve tilting function for greater passenger comfort when driving at up to 180 km/h, is standard on the S 600, S 650 and Mercedes S 65 AMG, and is available as an option for the S 560 in both short and long wheelbase variants and for the Mercedes-B 560 (5,355 euros).
