New Porsche 911 GT3 RS, the most powerful naturally aspirated model in the brand's range, ready for Geneva

At the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, Porsche will present the 911 GT3 RS, its series-production sports car with the most powerful naturally aspirated engine: 520 CV

A new sports chassis and a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated engine producing 520 CV (383 kW) are the main selling points from the motorsport department of the Stuttgart brand for the new improved version of the 911 GT3 RS, which will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in early March and which we saw in leaked images a few days ago.

Developed from the 911 GT3, the competition variant of the model has recalibrated the steering and refined its rear axle to deliver even more precise guidance and a better dynamic response at maximum performance. The new GT3 RS is the third GT model in the range that Porsche has presented in less than a year, joining the recent 911 GT3 and 911 GT2 RS.

As one would expect, Porsche has paid special attention to the aerodynamics of the new 911 GT3 RS, which obviously retains the characteristic shapes that define its wide, low sports body, and which has also been optimised and — although Porsche has not disclosed how many kilos were saved — lightened in terms of weight overall.

Inside, it features new bucket seats made entirely of carbon fibre, which provide greater lateral support and keep the driver more firmly in position, especially when the car is being driven at its full potential. New interior door panels, stylistically in keeping with the rest of the cabin and fitted with storage nets, have been introduced on the side doors. Inside, as in other parts of the vehicle, new materials have been used to help absorb the sounds coming from the engine bay, from the tyres rolling over the asphalt and from the noise generated by the aerodynamics.

The technology applied to the 911 GT3 RS chassis, together with the knowledge the brand has gained in competition, has helped both to increase the rigidity of the structure and to achieve exceptional driving dynamics. Among other aspects of the car, the engineers have improved the wheel ball joints to provide greater precision when driving.

The 911 GT3 RS features lightweight 20-inch wheels fitted to the front axle to improve agility and steering response, and new sports tyres of recent development in 265/35 size at the front and 325/30 at the rear on 21-inch wheels.

Optionally, with the Weissach equipment package, magnesium wheels can be fitted, which save a significant amount of weight, as can the other components of the package used on various parts of the chassis and of the exterior and interior equipment, which, made entirely of carbon fibre, considerably reduce the vehicle’s weight. In its lightest configuration with this package fitted, the 911 GT3 RS’s total weight drops to 1,430 kg.

The new 911 GT3 RS is powered by a 4.0-litre six-cylinder engine that literally propels the 911 GT3 RS to 520 CV of power, with brilliant acceleration that allows it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 312 km/h.

This naturally aspirated engine delivers 20 CV (115 kW) more than its predecessor, which allows the 911 GT3 RS to reach new limits, as the new engine can now rev up to 9,000 rpm. The engine is offered coupled to a seven-speed PDK gearbox, specially tuned and calibrated to match this car and its engine so as to deliver maximum performance and driving pleasure.

From next April the new 911 GT3 RS will be available on the German market and will subsequently be offered in the other markets, although Porsche is already accepting orders. Its price starts at 195,137 euros, including VAT and the equipment specific to each market.
