Porsche 911: this is how its new adaptive aerodynamics work
Porsche has taken the 992-generation 911 to a new level, a car that delivers very precise handling thanks to its new adaptive aerodynamics.

The sports car and supercar segment is beginning to adopt the most cutting-edge technology on the market, which is reflected both in its mechanics and in its performance. The previous-generation Porsche 911 was one of the most acclaimed in its class, and the engineers in Stuttgart faced the daunting task of replacing it. The result was the 992, a new era for the German sports car that keeps its essence intact while taking its performance to the next level, something made possible thanks to its adaptive aerodynamics.
It is true that at first glance we can see a series of components compared with the 991 that reveal the work carried out by the engineers; however, it is thanks to this video that we can observe every single detail of this new adaptive aerodynamics that allows the new Porsche 911 to deliver more optimal performance and a faster, more precise passage through corners.
At the front we find a bumper with two prominent air intakes designed to benefit aerodynamics. You can see how air enters through them and is channelled towards the wheel, so that it wraps around it and the flow continues along the side of the German sports car. The same arrangement is repeated at the rear, where the slats on the engine cover also direct the air and send it back outside.

At 70 km/h the 911’s front air intakes remain closed, but above 90 km/h the retractable spoiler comes into play to fight the resistance the wind offers and deliver more agile and direct handling. When driving at high speed, the suspension lowers by 10 mm, allowing the nueveonce to sit closer to the ground to ensure optimal progress on both straights and bends.
At the same time, this new aerodynamics developed by the German maker can adapt to different external factors. If it rains, the car itself will suggest activating WET mode, a driving mode that also prepares the spoiler to act in the event of braking or loss of traction. The same situation repeats itself when we have to decelerate sharply or in an emergency, since the action of the retractable spoiler will maximise braking.

This is how Porsche wants to introduce its latest technology, which not only aims to bring electric vehicles to life, but also one of the purest and most precise sports cars on the market. At the same time, this technology will be further enhanced in the more radical variants of the new 911, which will be revealed gradually ahead of the upcoming motor shows.
