Ripsaw EV3-F4, the all-terrain tank built for fun

This off-road vehicle has a very aggressive look and moves thanks to two tracks that transmit the power and allow it to move freely.

Off-road vehicles are used to cross the most demanding terrain. Some brands have special vehicles for this kind of task. Others have been created to shape some of the most extreme off-roaders. One of them is Grenadier, which has presented its model ahead of its launch in the near future. The case of the Ripsaw EV3-F4 is different. Rather than an off-road car, it is a tank built for recreation.

No, it doesn’t have a cannon ready to fire at other vehicles, but it is ready to move across the most demanding terrain. To do so, it doesn’t use tyres but tracks, like real tanks. It was produced by Howe & Howe and has been put up for sale through the Hemmings auction house. Interestingly, after just one day on the market, the sale price has reached 425,000 dollars.

Lightweight and off-road capable

Don’t expect the Ripsaw EV3-F4 to offer much protection in combat either. It is based on a high-strength steel tubular structure. It is relatively light, and its tracks allow it to move across any terrain, however difficult. The engine powering it is a 6.6-litre Duramax V8 block with several modifications.

This engine gives the off-road vehicle 800 CV of power and a maximum torque of 2,033 Nm, transmitted through a five-speed Allison 1,000 transmission. With all this, it’s no surprise that it reaches a top speed of 96 km/h.

As for the cabin, it is worth highlighting that it is supported on springs that prevent the forces generated by the tracks from reaching the occupants. On the outside, the body is finished in matte black. LED lights, a heated windscreen, an infrared light bar, an extra spotlight, a FLIR camera with image stabilisation and several watertight cargo compartments complete the equipment of the Ripsaw EV3-F4.

Comfort matters, which is why Recaro seats have been fitted. They feature heating and cooling, so the driver and front passenger travel in comfort. There is room for two more passengers in the rear. The occupants communicate through a Bose aviation communication system, and all the controls are grouped on two Garmin screens. An off-roader that, in principle, is unique, and which will soon belong to some lucky driver.
