Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus changes the engine of the SCG004S before it goes on sale

Although a 5.0-litre V8 engine had been announced for this remarkable supercar, it will finally be a 3.8-litre V6 block that powers the SGC004S

Supercars always bring us plenty of good news and good feelings. And that holds true even though the versions that will reach the market are slightly different from what they initially want to show us. Sometimes manufacturers want the best for their customers, making changes to what they first reveal so that the experience is as important as it should be. And that is what has happened with the SCG004S that Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus presented.

This supercar was presented last November, and it was said that it would use a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that would give the car 650 CV. However, speaking with Autocar, the head of the company, Jim Glickenhaus, has pointed out that he has equipped the supercar with the 3.8-litre VR38DETT V6 engine that also powers the Nissan GT-R.

Although this engine has two cylinders fewer and 1.2 litres less displacement, it is a good option and, despite its smaller size, will deliver more power. This block offers 690 CV, giving the supercar 40 CV more than the other engine. Fitting this engine includes a six-speed manual gearbox, unlike the automatic gearbox used by the Nissan GT-R. That said, anyone who wants the comfort of an automatic gearbox will have the option of one.

The engine change was made because the smaller size, and therefore the lower weight, of the block will allow the car to gain not only that extra power but also a weight reduction. With this block it will be possible to build a racing version that can take part in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring 2019, since it uses the GT-R engine.

Testing of the SCG004S will begin within a few months, so that the first buyers can receive their cars before the end of the year. The price of this remarkable car will be around 400,000 dollars, which is roughly 340,000 euros. A classic-style supercar that will arrive with a smaller but more powerful engine to please everyone.
