Seat has announced the launch of its first vehicle equipped with automatic cylinder deactivation technology ACT.

This is the Ibiza ACT, which becomes one of the most attractive versions within the Ibiza range thanks to its good balance between power and efficiency.

The heart of this version is its engine, the first from the Spanish brand to feature ACT technology. It is a 1.4 TSI engine producing 140 CV with a combined consumption of no more than 5 litres (4.7 litres per 100 km). It emits 109 grams of CO2 per kilometre, so it is also exempt from the registration tax payment.

Undoubtedly, the ACT system is essential to achieving this good balance. This technology is capable of deactivating two of the four cylinders of the engine under certain conditions, reducing consumption by up to 1 litre.

Through electromagnetic actuators, the control unit closes the valves of cylinders 2 and 3, so that fuel no longer flows through them.
This can occur in many situations, since ACT is able to operate between 1,500 and 4,000 rpm, as long as the driver does not press the accelerator more than halfway.

The system works in real time without the driver intervening in the process, so the driver will not be aware that two of the cylinders are deactivated other than through a slight change in the engine sound.

The Ibiza ACT will be available in combination with the FR trim in any of the three body styles currently on sale.
