Stellantis sales grow in February and offer good prospects for 2026

The Stellantis Group has experienced an 11% growth in sales, although its results remain negative and show significant losses.

Fiat Grande Panda

The Stellantis Group had been going through a rather bad time in terms of sales over the last few years. But in the month of February it appears that the problem has been turned around, and the circumstances have come together so that numbers are positive again and sales are growing. Specifically, they rose 11% compared to February 2025.

A figure that is not bad at all, since the average growth in the European market was 1.9%, which places it ahead of many European brands. In these results there is a very clear culprit: the FIAT Grande Panda. Sales of this new SUV from the Italian brand rose by 51%. But this new model is not the only reason for the sales recovery.

The adoption of the Smart Car platform has been crucial for the company, as it allows this architecture to be used to shape a good variety of models across Stellantis’s different brands. These models are all very functional and allow customers to have efficient, quality cars with contained prices, without having to give up profitability.

Other models that have helped Stellantis move forward have been the Opel Frontera and the Citroën C3 Aircross, all of them compact SUVs. This is important, since this type of vehicle is the one winning the most sales in the European market, as it matches the tastes of European buyers.

The reinforcement of Leapmotor

An important detail is the incorporation of the Leapmotor models into the Stellantis catalogue. This Chinese brand, which joined Stellantis in 2025, also makes it possible to offer affordable electric cars to European buyers. Thus, sales of these electric cars have increased by 849% and have allowed the brand to have more than 800 outlets on the continent. A success that shows the success of the brand and, consequently, of the group that hosts it.

More sales, but more losses

Although sales have increased, it must be pointed out that Stellantis’s losses are very high. In 2025 they recorded losses of €22.3 billion, although this figure has a reason behind it. A great deal has been invested in the development of electrified models. Battery development, adaptation to new emissions regulations and energy costs are driving these figures.

The sales growth suggests better results in 2026 and the following years, but Stellantis needs to keep its growth strategy going and continue offering profitable vehicles with features similar to those of Chinese vehicles.
