The Audi A5L is a model that will only be seen in China and will not be sold in Europe

Recently, Audi announced changes in its market in China. Among them, it announced the launch of the AUDI brand, without the rings and with the logo in capital letters. But this does not mean it is setting aside its traditional line. In fact, it has just presented the new Audi A5L. It is a version of the Audi A5 with a longer wheelbase. This is the only variant of the A5 that has a four-door body.

It has a length of 4,902 mm and a wheelbase of 2,965 mm. This figure shows that it is 73 mm longer than the conventional Audi A5. Of that figure, 65 mm correspond to greater wheelbase space, which positively affects interior space, especially for rear passengers.

The Audi A5L has arrived to replace the Audi A4L, so they have worked hard not only to surpass the A5 but also to do so with the model it replaces. This has resulted in a more sporty and attractive look than the other two. The bodywork presents differences from the A5, although it shares part of its design language. The rear doors are somewhat larger and the rear end completely abandons the look of the model we know in Europe.

As for equipment, the Audi A5L retains elements we already know, such as the Matrix LED headlights and OLED rear lights. It adds an LED strip on the front grille and lighting for all four rings. As for the interior, Audi has announced that the interior equipment will offer an information and entertainment software designed for this model.

It is expected that a three-screen configuration will be used. One of 11.9 inches for the instrumentation, another of 14.5 inches in the central position and a third of 10.9 inches for the front passenger. Overall, the big difference with the Audi A5 will be the legroom in the rear.

This will be the first model aimed at the Chinese market based on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture. We know that under the hood we will find the EA888 Evo5 engine, a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-litre unit. This engine features a 48-volt mild hybrid system.

This new model will be manufactured alongside the joint venture the brand has with FAW, with which it will also build the Audi Q6L E-tron SUV, which was presented at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
