A7 Audi Sedans Salón de Shanghai
The Audi A7 L is already a reality in China and arrives as a conventional saloon
Audi has just unveiled the new Audi A7 L, a long-wheelbase version arriving in the Chinese market that becomes a pure and straightforward saloon.
The automotive sector has expanded considerably in recent years, resulting in a multitude of options and segments in today’s market. Even so, manufacturers still have to adapt to the different types of markets, such as China, where long-wheelbase executive saloons are in particularly high demand. Audi has been doing this there for many years, but it has wanted to give it a different twist with the newly arrived Audi A7 L, a version with which the model leaves behind its status as a coupé-style saloon.
And so Audi has not limited itself on this occasion to increasing the wheelbase of the A7, but has set it up as a different segment. In this way, the four-ring brand seeks to further strengthen its position in China with a type of vehicle that sells better there, since the market does not favour saloons in which the rear window and the boot lid are joined together.
With this premise, the German brand has specifically modified the Audi A7 to move it away from the four-door coupé concept with which it was born. To do so, Audi engineers have applied changes solely and exclusively to the rear, keeping the front and the cabin intact throughout. Indeed, we now find a straighter C-pillar that gives rise to a completely separate boot lid.

In addition, Audi has also increased the wheelbase of the A7 L, which now measures 3,026 metres between the axles. This also affects the overall length of the saloon, which grows to 5,076 metres thanks, in part, to the rear overhang and ensuring more space for occupants of the rear seats.
As far as mechanics are concerned, the four-ring house has not applied modifications of any kind. In this way, the Audi A7 L arrives in China, for now, with four- and six-cylinder engines. In addition, the launch edition “First Edition”, limited to 1,000 units and equipped with the 3.0-litre turbo V6 capable of developing 340 CV and 500 Nm of torque, also stands out.

In this way, Audi approaches China from a different perspective and with a new approach that will allow its customers to opt for a vehicle that may well steal sales from the Audi A6 or, on the contrary, return to the original concept of the A7.
