The Dacia Duster gains appeal with the new 1.3 TCe petrol engine

With the addition of the 1.3 TCe petrol engine, the Dacia Duster adds further reasons to be considered as a purchase alternative among affordable SUVs.

The new Dacia Duster gained a great deal of ground in its latest generation. In design, in finish and presentation quality, in ride comfort and equipment options… But there was still a loose end to tidy up in the mechanical offering, especially regarding petrol engines.

And while new Blue dCi engines were recently announced, now the magnificent 1.3 TCe petrol engine is good news for the Dacia SUV. It is offered in two power versions, with 130 and 150 CV. In both cases, the new direct-injection engine includes a particulate filter, to comply with future anti-pollution regulations.

Lighter and more efficient, this 1.3 TCe replaces the already veteran 1.6 naturally aspirated engine in the range, which remains only in the Dacia Duster versions with LPG. It also takes the place of the 125 CV 1.2 TCe. In its 130 CV variant, the 1.3 TCe’s maximum torque is 240 Nm, while the 150 CV version achieves a maximum torque of 250 Nm, in both cases from very low revs – 1,500 and 1,600 rpm respectively – ensuring pleasant driving. Initially they are offered only in 4×2 versions, but during 2019 they will also be combinable with 4×4 traction.

In addition to the new engines, the Dacia Duster also receives the new evolution of the Media Nav navigation system, with compatibility for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an improved touchscreen and new menus, with no price increase over the previous navigation system.
