The electric sports car from Lexus will exceed 700 km of range
Lexus reveals more images and data about its future electric sports car: a range of 700 km is announced, along with a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration of close to 2 seconds.

We have already told you about the future plans of Lexus through Lexus Electrified, which envisages launching an SUV, a saloon and a high-performance sports car on the market, all of them one hundred percent electric. Specifically, the first images of the new supercar, which we can consider the successor to the Lexus LFA, were unveiled last December 2021, when the president of Toyota and Lexus announced the strategy that will lead the company to have a complete one hundred percent electric range by 2030.
Now, Lexus reveals more images of its future electric sports car, in which it can be seen from an angle we had not yet seen: the rear. Although in reality, these are computer-generated images, not of the actual car. It must be taken into account that we are talking about a model that, presumably, would not be on the market for another 8 years.
The first impression it gives is that of a very avant-garde design, much more sophisticated than the front, in which some reminiscences of other models of the brand can be found, most notably the steep drop of the roof at the rear. And not much more, because Lexus wants to keep the intrigue and it seems they are going to reveal the information drop by drop. We cannot even see what the sleek silhouette of the electric Lexus would look like, with what appears to be an integrated rear spoiler that will deploy with speed, or any image of the interior.
Solid-state batteries and up to 700 km of range
However, there is one piece of data that Lexus provides in this new batch of information that we find very relevant. Much more so than the performance, since it speaks of an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h “in the range of two seconds”, something that, today, is not at all difficult when talking about electric supercars. And we are referring to the range. Because at this point, daring to announce more than 700 km of range in a car of this kind is only possible if you have an ace up your sleeve. At Toyota and Lexus it seems they have one, with solid-state batteries. They do not confirm whether they will be ready by the time the new Lexus sports car reaches the market, but at least they present it as a possibility.
Lexus also hints that this new car will offer a unique driving experience, “with a perfect connection of deceleration, steering and acceleration at all times”. Its proportions, with a low centre of gravity and a very set-back driving position, invite us to think so. But surely the Japanese brand is keeping some surprise to manage how it delivers the power and torque that electric motors provide. We will eagerly await the next instalment.
