The Ford Focus ST will offer a new gearbox option in its catalogue of choices
Finally, the automatic gearbox arrives on the Ford Focus ST, both in its standard bodywork and in the estate, but only paired with the 2.3 EcoBoost petrol engine

Following the cancellation of the fourth-generation Ford Focus RS, the 2019 Ford Focus ST, with power from 190 CV, in its variant with the 2.0 EcoBlue diesel engine, or the petrol version that produces 280 CV from the 2.3 EcoBoost block, makes up for its absence, since this car is, in itself, a real plaything for having fun behind the wheel.
Thanks mainly to the powerful petrol engine, together with the tuning of the chassis, the suspension and precise steering, the car shows a balanced blend of practicality and sportiness, something that the previous RS did not offer, as it tended to be an extreme compact with no middle ground.
The fact is that, for the current Ford Focus ST, until now the only transmission available was the 6-speed manual gearbox, a real treat for lovers of driving with three pedals, leaving no option to fit an automatic gearbox and handle the car’s work with just two pedals.

But, as we noted, since this car, even more so in its Sportbreak estate configuration, is aimed, a priori, at an even more relaxed audience, from this summer, but only paired with the Ford Focus ST petrol engine, a new 7-speed automatic gearbox will be added to the range of choices.
In fact, it is already possible to book this configuration, combining the 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine with the 7-speed automatic transmission for those who opt for the gearbox that replaces the traditional gear lever, at best, with paddles behind the steering wheel and a selector on the centre tunnel.
This option will add around 1,800 euros to the price of the current petrol Ford Fiesta ST with manual gearbox, that is, the final price of this car with the automatic gearbox will be from around 37,000 euros for the standard 5-door bodywork, and from around 38,000 € for the Sportbreak.
