Motorsport enthusiasts have reason to celebrate, because from now on, lovers of the Nürburgring who want to experience the thrill of an electric sports car can opt for an exciting ride in the Jaguar I-Pace, the first electric car to be used as a race taxi on the most demanding track in the world, following the example of Sabine Smith with her BMW M5.

The Jaguar I-Pace electric car joins the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 in the company’s Nürburgring Race Taxi fleet, offering rides with a professional driver at the wheel. What an adventure!

The first electric model from Jaguar is powered by two electric motors that produce a combined output of 400 CV and a maximum torque of 696 Nm. The energy comes from a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which allows the Jaguar I-Pace to travel up to 470 km on a full charge according to the WLTP homologation cycle.

This is enough power for the Jaguar I-Pace to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 4.5 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.8 s), while its top speed is set at 200 km/h.

Jaguar I-Pace, this is the electric car that will tackle the Nürburgring

The first electric from Jaguar has been widely praised for its rewarding driving experience, so adding some Race Taxi decals and taking it to the so-called Green Hell sounds like the right decision. The brand has stated that the Jaguar I-Pace has what it takes to face the 73 demanding corners of the Nürburgring and wants more people to experience it while doing so. It will undoubtedly be interesting to see how the Jaguar electric car handles fast, sustained driving along these sections.

The brand’s high-performance SUV will feel right at home in all conditions around the Nordschleife. This circuit has 73 corners across its 20.8 km, and thanks to its dynamic handling and all-wheel drive, according to the brand itself, the zero-emission Jaguar I-Pace was named World Green Car of the Year 2019 and is capable of handling whatever the circuit known as ‘Green Hell’ has to offer.

The introduction of the first fully electric RACE eTAXI is another step in Jaguar’s electrification strategy, as it allows more people to experience the award-winning Jaguar I-Pace first-hand.” “The carmaker is no stranger to electric racing cars, with the Panasonic Jaguar Racing team preparing for a fourth season in Formula E. In addition, the brand has also completed its inaugural season of the Jaguar I-Pace eTROPHY, the world’s first fully electric single-make competition, featuring a grid of drivers in Jaguar I-Pace cars close to series production.”
