The Volkswagen T-Roc goes through ABT's hands to become a true hot hatchback
ABT has decided to bring out the most sporting side of the Volkswagen T-Roc. After going through its hands, the German SUV is capable of delivering 228 CV and 360 Nm of torque.

Vehicle modifications don’t recognise segments and apply to absolutely every type that currently exists. Today’s SUVs are characterised by offering a sportier variant, which takes on the performance of true supercars. However, on certain occasions, those derived from compact models also have the right to access a more radical variant and ABT has given the Volkswagen T-Roc its own GTi version in the purest style of the German tuner.
The T-Roc has been one of the most recent products launched by Volkswagen, which aims to become a true bestseller thanks to its laid-back, modern styling. ABT, as we already know, is not very keen on letting the cars that pass through its workshops remain just as we know them, and the German SUV was not going to be an exception. The changes the T-Roc has undergone affect not only its styling but also its mechanics.
The modifications the small German SUV has received turn it into a true hot hatchback and raise it to the same level as its sibling, the Golf GTi and, by extension, the Skoda Octavia RS, the model with which the compact shares its mechanics. To carry out the necessary changes, the tuner has used the most powerful T-Roc as its base, whose setup features a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine producing 190 CV.

That figure is considered a paltry output for ABT, which is used to squeezing every last drop of sportiness out of the vehicles it modifies. After modifying the ECU and a few other components of the 2.0-litre engine, the German tuner has managed to extract 228 CV and 360 Nm of torque from the T-Roc. This setup will allow the Volkswagen SUV to take on numerous sporty compacts head-on.
The suspension has also undergone a series of changes, which reduce the height of the T-Roc by between 35 and 40 mm at both the front and rear axles. This, together with the German SUV’s four-wheel drive, turns the small SUV into a true curve-devouring machine, ideal for enhancing the sporting character that lay dormant within it and has been awakened after passing through ABT’s hands.
The aesthetic section also includes some changes, although the German tuner has been more restrained when it comes to the exterior modifications of the T-Roc. The first thing that catches our attention is the distinctive wheels available in both 18 and 20 inches, which are complemented by several black-painted elements, such as the front grille and the door sill protectors.

Without a doubt, the Volkswagen T-Roc prepared by ABT achieves a setup worthy of admiration and presents itself as a true sports car endowed with great versatility. This combination gives the German SUV characteristics ideal for long journeys with a high level of comfort and, at the same time, for taking on winding country roads and enjoying them like never before.
