These are the new features that Tesla will bring in 2020

Tesla keeps unveiling new features for its models, and with the start of 2020 it is preparing an interesting agenda full of new developments and appealing proposals

Tesla Model S Autonomia

2019 has not been a bad year for Tesla, which has seen many of its forecasts become reality, and a great many completed projects and several models launched can be found. For example, in 2019 the Cybertruck and the Cyberquad were unveiled, in addition to the Tesla Model Y. Construction of the Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai has also begun, and the Gigafactory 4 was announced, which will start operating within a few months.

But in 2020 the news does not stop, and Tesla has prepared a fairly full agenda to keep itself in the headlines of the specialist press and keep releasing news about the brand’s developments. No, for the time being there will be no announcements of new Tesla models, but there is news about existing ones and about the models that are concepts today and will possibly become production models during 2020.

Model Y, the new model

The flagship project of Tesla is the start of production of the Model Y, which aims to become the best-selling model in the brand’s range, surpassing even the other three models combined. At present, in Spain it has managed to establish the Model 3 as the best-selling electric car, so the bet is quite a strong one.

To achieve this, they count on the technological innovations of the Model Y, which replace the traditional wiring with a flexible circuit. This and other solutions will allow the production cost of the car to fall. A good argument for reducing the price and making it more attractive to buyers.

New versions of the Model S and Model X

The brand’s first two models never cease to surprise and continue to receive updates. Both the Tesla S and the Tesla X will get new versions. The Tesla Model S Plaid and the Tesla Model X Plaid will join the existing variants and offer a more radical, sporty version. On the outside they will not differ much from the previous models, although the interior will have a decor closer to what we see in the Model 3.

Another novelty is the inclusion in the existing models of a 130 kWh battery and more efficient front motors, which together with the recent Raven software update will increase the range of all models. The start of production of the Semi, the brand’s electric truck, will be marked by a small number of units, which will be delivered to buyers at the end of 2020.

Tesla Cybertruck 5

Development of the Tesla Roadster will also come to an end, although production will not begin until 2021. The aim is for it to be fully developed during 2020 and even put through tests on the Nürburgring circuit. The FSD or Full-Self Driving, or ‘Full Self-Driving Capability’, which is an evolution of Autopilot that will improve autonomous driving, will also be launched.

Incorporating batteries developed and manufactured by Tesla itself will allow this component to have a useful life of 1.6 million kilometres. The launch of the Tesla App Store, where external developers will be able to offer applications to improve the use of Tesla models. And all of this is what we know for now, so we do not rule out that during 2020 they will surprise us with some further novelty.
