Land Rover has finally presented the new Range Rover Sport SV, which comes with the reputation of being the most powerful one ever built

The wait is over. At the end of April, Land Rover gave us a glimpse of the future Range Rover Sport SV hidden under a thick layer of camouflage in an impressive video that also revealed the interior, and announced that it would be unveiled at the end of May. As was to be expected, the brand has kept its word, and here it is, with a name change included (it is no longer called SVR): aggressive and sporty, yet without forgetting all the luxury surrounding this model, and equipped with an even more powerful engine.

Refined exterior with sporty intentions

Without further ado, let’s look at what the new Range Rover Sport SV has in store for its exterior. Although it may seem that it has barely changed, the brand has redesigned the front with a new bumper that optimises airflow more effectively, which translates into better aerodynamics, and which also includes a discreet splitter together with carbon fibre trim.

The way air flows over its bodywork has also carried over to the sides, with a new lower section. Finally, at the rear, just as at the front, Land Rover has designed a new bumper that fits perfectly and integrates discreet side air outlets and a diffuser, through which the twin exhaust outlets with carbon fibre tips also peek out.

It is worth noting that the Range Rover Sport SV comes as standard with 23-inch cast alloy wheels, which can be replaced with other 23-inch wheels made of carbon fibre with a specific design that save 9 kg each compared to the standard ones. Behind them are the upgraded Dual-Cast cast-iron brake discs which, just like the wheels, can optionally be replaced with a carbon-ceramic brake system that reduces weight by a total of 34 kg compared to the standard ones. Regardless of the brakes chosen, the front brake calipers are Brembo Octyma eight-piston units, customisable in four colours.

Sporty interior without sacrificing luxury

When we enter the interior of the new Range Rover Sport SV, we see that the brand continues to unapologetically embrace luxury, all wrapped in a totally sporty atmosphere. Examples include the SV Performance seats with satin-finish carbon fibre backrests and integrated headrests, which position the driver 15 mm lower than the outgoing model to enhance the sense of sportiness, and which can also be upholstered together with other elements in seamless Ultrafabrics polyurethane.

As I was saying, luxury is present in the Range Rover Sport SV, and good examples of this are features such as the 6D Dynamics suspension system, which makes virtually any change in the road surface imperceptible, or the Body and Soul Seat (BASS) system combined with the 29-speaker, 1430 W Meridian Signature sound system, a multidimensional audio experience with wellbeing benefits that lets the occupants of the front seats feel the music. It is the first series-production vehicle to incorporate a tactile audio system from the sector leader SUBPAC, a technology used by artists and composers.

The 2024 Range Rover Sport SV is the most powerful ever built

Land Rover has not only focused on improving the aesthetics and technology of the new Range Rover Sport SV, but also on its engine, which now embraces electrification, though somewhat timidly, at least for now. It will only be available with the new 4,400 cc twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, which now produces 635 CV and 750 Nm of torque, an increase of 60 CV and 50 Nm over the outgoing model.

With these figures, the Range Rover Sport SV can now accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, reaching a limited top speed of 290 km/h. Moreover, despite being more powerful, the new Range Rover Sport SV emits 15% less CO2 than the outgoing model, thanks to its entry into electrification through the 48 V mild-hybrid system, which also allows it to carry the ECO label from the DGT.

Best of all, if you are interested in the new Range Rover Sport SV, you will not have to wait long: Land Rover has already opened its order book in Spain, although to get one you will need to pay at least 237,000 euros.
