The Toyota C-HR, the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Peugeot 3008 are the most sought-after SUVs in the used market, according to data provided by GANVAM and Clicars

More and more people are looking for greater comfort when driving. Used cars are an excellent option for those looking for a high-quality vehicle at a lower price than a new car.

According to data provided by the National Association of Vehicle Dealers (GANVAM), the SUV models the Toyota C-HR, the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Peugeot 3008 are the most in-demand models in the used market, making these models more popular than MPVs or saloons.

These models are carving out a niche among used vehicles: so far this year, searches for SUVs have increased by up to 16% since the start of the winter season.

This year, the most popular SUV models in internet searches were the BMW X5, the Nissan QASHQAI and the Volkswagen Tiguan, representing 4.5% of all searches on the Clicars platform, a leading Spanish online vehicle sales company. The TOP 5 most sought-after models also included the Hyundai Tucson and the Audi Q3.

Features of the best-selling used SUV

Brands such as BMW or Audi are the ones that attract the most interest among used car buyers compared with the best-selling SUVs in general, showing a greater consumer interest in high-end cars.

There is growing interest in eco-friendly vehicles due to the application of restrictive regulations and growing environmental awareness. Searches for ECO cars account for 42% of searches on the Clicars platform, and ECO SUVs are gaining ground in the used market thanks to the confidence they offer in terms of technology and range. Meanwhile, 30% of drivers still prefer diesel and 28% petrol. It is important to note that in January and February, sales of ECO SUV models accounted for 18%, an increase of 5% over the previous year.

On the other hand, driving comfort is an important feature for SUV enthusiasts, with 85% of searches focused on models with an automatic gearbox and only 15% on models with a manual gearbox.

Best-selling used SUVs

The Toyota C-HR is performing excellently in the market, achieving a 93% increase in sales with 1,678 units sold so far this year and ranking first on the sales list. This success is partly due to growing demand for hybrid vehicles, as the C-HR has a hybrid propulsion system that makes it more efficient and environmentally friendly.

The Volkswagen Tiguan continues to consolidate its position as one of the most popular SUVs on the market, as sales figures show. In the first quarter of 2023, this model reached second place on the podium with a total of 1,629 units sold, representing an increase of 17.7% compared with the same period of the previous year. This success is largely due to its attractive design, spacious interior and outstanding technology.

Another very popular model on the motoring market is the Peugeot 3008. In the latest sales report, 1,612 units were sold, an increase of 14% compared with the same period of the previous year. This compact SUV stands out for its elegant design, advanced technology and high performance.
