Volvo becomes the exclusive importer in Europe of the vehicles of Lynk & Co

Following this agreement with Geely, Volvo will take over exclusive importation, as well as the commercial and brand management operations of Lynk & Co in Europe.

Volvo and the Chinese automotive giant Geely have reached an agreement under which the Swedish brand will become the exclusive importer of the vehicles of Lynk & Co in Europe. This decision represents an important step forward in the existing collaboration between Volvo and Lynk & Co, as both brands currently share sales points at certain European dealerships.

It is important to note, however, that to date the companies have formalised their intentions through a letter of intent, but the definitive agreement is still pending signature. In any case, the goal is clear: Volvo, owned by Geely, will be responsible for distributing the models of Lynk & Co across the entire continent using its established dealer network. Meanwhile, outside Europe, Geely’s parent group in China will retain control over distribution, global development and product certification of the brand.

This new alliance expands an existing practice in some European markets, where the vehicles of Volvo and Lynk & Co are sold together. In this way, the aim is to drive the growth of Lynk & Co in this market, making more efficient use of the distributor and service network of Volvo. Geely considers that both brands attract different audiences, which makes them natural partners to collaborate.

“The intention is to generate synergies by operating the Lynk & Co brand through the central and local sales structures of Volvo Cars. With this agreement, we will use our commercial system to support the growth ambitions of Lynk & Co in Europe. At the same time, we will allow Volvo and our retail partners to reach a broader audience. With the backing of our network and our commercial organisation, Lynk & Co will be able to achieve its true potential in the European market.”

A young but highly ambitious brand

Lynk & Co was created in 2017 as a joint venture between Geely and Volvo, initially focusing on hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. It has recently added the SUV 02, its first fully electric model, to its European range.

Finally, regarding its shareholding structure, Volvo sold its 30 percent stake last year to Zeekr -a brand that also belongs to Geely-. Following a further restructuring, Zeekr became the majority shareholder with 51 percent in February 2025, while Geely retains the remaining 49 percent.

This operation forms part of Geely Holding’s strategy to reorganise its assets and avoid internal competition among its multiple brands, which include Volvo, Zeekr, Polestar, Lotus and a 50 percent stake in Smart alongside Mercedes-Benz. The Chinese group thus seeks to maximise synergies and reduce costs.
