Xiaomi launches its new YU7 electric SUV in China from just over 30,000 euros at current exchange rates

The YU7 is Xiaomi’s new electric SUV. A vehicle that combines performance, advanced technology and comfort at a price that will surprise you. Although for now it is only sold in China.

Following the success achieved by the SU7 sports saloon over the past year, Xiaomi has officially begun sales of its second electric model, the YU7, an SUV that captivates at first sight and which, moreover, has a much lower price than one might expect for a vehicle like this.

The YU7 is available in three versions, with a price of just over 30,000 euros at current exchange rates for the entry-level rear-wheel-drive version. The intermediate version, called Pro, features dual electric motors and all-wheel drive, and it does not cost much more, around 33,000 euros at current exchange rates. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-range Max version, also with all-wheel drive, already costs nearly 40,000 euros at current exchange rates.

At 4.99 metres long, Xiaomi’s YU7 narrowly exceeds the brand’s saloon by just 0.02 metres. It is also quite wide, at 1.99 metres, and its height is 1.61 metres. If we add to all this a wheelbase of up to 3 metres, we can confidently state that we are looking at a spacious, roomy vehicle, perfect for long journeys with the whole family or a group of friends.

You’ll feel right at home

The YU7 combines that generous interior space we mentioned with a level of comfort well above what is expected in its segment. It features front seats with Nappa leather upholstery and a massage function, reclining up to 123 degrees so you can relax while the battery pack completes a fast charge. The rear seats, on the other hand, recline up to 135 degrees and include a touchscreen to control climate, music and navigation.

On the dashboard, a large infotainment screen is complemented by the HyperVision system, which integrates three small LED screens at the base of the windscreen to display key information, blind-spot alerts and customisable widgets.

But that’s not all: the YU7 also stands out from its rivals in terms of technology. It features LiDAR sensors, a 4D millimetre-wave radar and cameras with anti-reflective coating to optimise visibility in any condition. All the data collected by these sensors is processed by the high-performance Nvidia Drive AGX Thor computing platform, which runs the autonomous driving software developed by Xiaomi to improve safety and the driving experience.

Finally, it should be noted that although sales of the YU7 are only now starting, the Chinese manufacturer already unveiled it last May, generating great anticipation at the time and attracting more than 200,000 orders in just the first three minutes after bookings opened. If the Chinese manufacturer is now able to fulfil all those orders, this electric SUV will probably surpass in 2025 the success the company’s first electric model enjoyed last year, consolidating Xiaomi as one of the most relevant manufacturers in the sector.
