Xpeng announces its expansion into the Asia-Pacific region

With an offensive covering both product and sales network, Xpeng aims to consolidate its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, competing head-on in the electrified SUV segment.

Xpeng is advancing its international expansion strategy with the recent confirmation by the Chinese manufacturer that it will consolidate in Oceania. The company plans to sell in Australia and New Zealand a range initially made up of five models, which will arrive in these markets before March 2027. Likewise, the brand’s plans include doubling its dealership network in Australia, from the initial 25 to 50 sales points by the end of that same year.

The announcement was made during the company’s first Brand Day in Australia. The current global vice president and president of Xpeng detailed that by the first quarter of 2027 local dealerships will have the new G6, the X9, the L03, the G9L and the L05. In New Zealand, the planned timeline will be practically identical in that market.

Xpeng has already begun putting this roadmap into practice with the recent launch of the refreshed G6 and the X9 in both countries. The G6 starts at 51,800 Australian dollars -around 31,700 euros- and 59,990 New Zealand dollars -about 30,500 euros-. The X9, meanwhile, starts at 89,900 Australian dollars -approximately 55 thousand euros- and 104,990 New Zealand dollars -close to 53,500 euros-.

A Xpeng for every type of customer

The next model to arrive will be the L03, a compact SUV positioned below the G6 and available both as a fully electric model and as an extended-range hybrid. Originally presented in China as the Mona L03, Xpeng intends to introduce this model simultaneously in 65 markets. In Australia and New Zealand its arrival is planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.

That same quarter will also mark the start of sales of the G9L, a large SUV developed in electric and extended-range variants. With a length of 5.12 metres, a width of 2 metres, a height of close to 1.79 metres and a wheelbase of 3.1 metres, the G9L clearly exceeds the current G9 in size. These dimensions allow a three-row seating configuration aimed at large families, positioning it as a direct rival to the KIA EV9 and the Hyundai IONIQ 9. The brand has already begun testing this model on Australian roads.

Finally, the list closes with the L05, a mid-size SUV slightly more compact than the G9. It measures 4,870 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width and 1,636 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,940 mm. It will also be offered in pure electric and extended-range versions, and its debut in Oceania is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
