Although the eighth generation of the Audi A6 has been on the market for a little over a year, the brand with the four rings continues to expand its saloon range. In fact, this summer we saw it extended with the latest additions, the A6 Allroad and the spectacular RS 6. Now the Audi A6 offers one more choice in terms of engine options, with the new 55 TFSI e Quattro plug-in hybrid variant.

It was also in the summer that we got to test the 50 TDI Quattro with 286 CV and mild-hybrid system, but the new 55 TFSI e Quattro is a plug-in hybrid proposal, which logically also qualifies for the ECO label. This version uses a 2.0-litre TFSI four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 252 CV, combined with the support of an 143 CV electric motor, for a combined output of 367 CV. With this combination, the Audi A6 55 TFSI e Quattro achieves consumption figures of 1.9-2.1 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 43-47 g/km.

Power is sent to all four wheels thanks to the Audi Quattro technology, passing first through the seven-speed S tronic automatic gearbox, where the additional electric motor is integrated. As part of this hybrid system, Audi has used a 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery, placed at the rear in a flat arrangement so as not to take up boot space, and which can be charged in two and a half hours with a 7.4 kW plug. It also allows up to 53 km in fully electric mode, as well as a top speed of 135 km/h.

Thanks to this hybrid system, the Audi A6 55 TFSI e Quattro offers three driving modes to choose from according to our preferences or the driving situation: the EV mode, which allows fully electric driving; the Hybrid mode, which drives in hybrid mode automatically; and finally the Hold mode, which preserves the electric energy stored in the battery for later use.

Aesthetically, the Audi A6 55 TFSI e Quattro does not differ from the rest of the range, except that the plug sits under a cover on the side opposite the fuel filler. It is worth noting, however, that it comes as standard with the S line styling package, which adds elements such as black mirror caps, 19-inch wheels, black window surrounds and several black inserts, tinted rear glass and Matrix LED headlights, among others.

For now, Audi has not revealed the price of the A6 55 TFSI e Quattro for the Spanish market, although to give us an idea, we know that in Germany it will cost 68,850 euros.
