BYD increases its sales significantly in July for the third consecutive month

BYD grows for the third consecutive month in July, with global sales of 419,000 vehicles and record exports of 43 percent.

BYD recorded in July its third consecutive month of sales growth, after eight months of year-on-year declines that extended until April. The company sold 419,211 units worldwide, an increase of 21.76 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and the highest monthly figure so far in 2026.

The main driver of this progress remains the international business. Exports, which include shipments to Europe, reached a record 179,841 vehicles, an increase of 124.3 percent year on year. These overseas sales accounted for around 43 percent of the group’s total, the same percentage as in June. In this context, BYD is preparing to begin serial production at its first passenger car plant in Europe, located in Hungary, during the fourth quarter of 2026.

In the company’s domestic market, sales stood at around 239,370 units. The year-on-year decline, of approximately 9 percent, was noticeably smaller than in previous months. This result is partly explained by sustained demand for models equipped with fast-charging technology, despite the traditional summer slowdown.

The group’s emerging brands also performed solidly in an environment of strong domestic competition. Fang Cheng Bao, the off-road-oriented brand not yet available in Europe, reached a new all-time high with 41,213 units, almost 190 percent more than last year. Denza, the premium brand that debuted in the German market this past spring, sold 19,196 vehicles, with growth of 68.8 percent. Meanwhile, Yangwang, the hypercar brand, sold 485 units. Meanwhile, the Dynasty and Ocean series remain the company’s main business, with 350,178 units delivered to their customers.

The sales recovery coincides with advances in production, although logistical difficulties persist. According to the company, the boost in demand is largely due to the transition to the second generation of the Blade battery with support for ultra-fast charging. At the same time, growth abroad is limited by insufficient sea transport capacity.

In the cumulative total for the first seven months of 2026, BYD delivered 2.23 million new energy vehicles worldwide, 10.54 percent fewer than in the same period of 2025. However, the gap has narrowed appreciably: year-on-year growth went from 0.26 percent in May to 5.5 percent in June and accelerated to 21.76 percent in July. The company also reported that has already surpassed 17.3 million units sold cumulatively.
