Chevrolet explains the aerodynamics of the 2014 Corvette Stingray

Chevrolet has published a video showing the aerodynamics of this supercar at work in a wind tunnel. We also learn what the air intakes spread across the bodywork are for

Following the launch of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 2014 at the recently concluded 2013 Detroit Motor Show, and after learning that the American brand will present the convertible version of the supercar at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Chevrolet has released a new video showing and explaining the study carried out, as well as the aerodynamic performance of the model.

The company has produced a short video summary of the improvements achieved through the air ducts in the bonnet, while the rear intakes have been implemented to cool the rear differential fitted to the car.

On the bodywork, additional ventilation for the brake system has also been included, something essential in this class of vehicle, along with a grille that keeps the engine temperature constant. Cooling a naturally aspirated V8 of this size is no simple task.

In the final part of the video below, you can see the vehicle in a wind tunnel in full detail. There, you can see how the airflow moves along the lines and shapes of the supercar, allowing engineers to improve everything from downforce to air resistance, as well as the vehicle’s cooling.
