Chrysler and Dodge are leaving Europe in 2011

Bad news comes to us from Automotive News: after the purchase of Chrysler by the Fiat group, something like this was to be expected. Fiat will not only use Chrysler to enter the American market but also to have models with which to replace its older ones with very little investment.
Chrysler and Dodge will withdraw from Europe in 2011, and the current models of Chrysler and Dodge will become part of the Fiat and Lancia brands. According to Automotive News, this news has been confirmed by Sergio Marchionne. The truth is I don’t think it will sit well with the loyal fans of both brands, but the story doesn’t end there, because it is already anticipated which cars will join the new Fiat and Lancia line-up.
The first to stand out will be the Chrysler Voyager, which will replace the Phedra. Another model that will become Italian is the 300C, which will fill the spot left by the Thesis, which was not very successful in sales. There is also talk of a new mid-size Chrysler crossover.
And Dodge will also share the same fate as its sister Chrysler, since the brand will only remain in Europe to sell the Viper and a few specific models. And Fiat will start selling under its own badge the Journey, which will replace the Ulysse, and the Fiat Sedici as we know it today will also change under the agreement with Suzuki, its replacement being the new generation of the Dodge Nitro, which we hope will be somewhat “finer” in its design or it won’t fit the line-up at all.
We hope the quality of the products will improve, but it is still sad news that Chrysler, which has been on the European market for a long time, is leaving again for the American market. As for Dodge, I have long been wondering whether it was right to arrive as its own brand, because apart from the Caliber, which had relative success, the rest of the products have received little acceptance in the market.
