Do you know the Peugeot 205 GTi PTS Kit 125? If the answer is no, you should know that it was an official kit available between 1985 and 1986, which had to be installed in a specialist workshop and approved by the authorities. Today these models have become a true object of desire, although many people are still unaware of their existence.

You will surely know that the Peugeot 205 is one of the models that revolutionised the image of the lion brand. This compact city car, with a cheerful and dynamic spirit, combined the performance and excellent road behaviour that have characterised the brand’s cars since its beginnings. Born from the ingenuity and pencils of Gérard Welter, a designer passionate about motorsport, a version that would make the most of its sporting character was bound to come.

Thus, in March 1984, barely a year after the model’s launch, one of its most legendary versions reached the market: the Peugeot 205 GTi. The French manufacturer described it as “a true concentrate of sportiness in compact dimensions, designed for drivers who crave sensations but who also seek the discretion of a best-selling model. This bet by the Lion was a great success, but it faced one problem: its 105 CV engine fell short against its rivals”.

This kit became the holy grail for all fans of the model, but to obtain it, Peugeot worked with Danielson, a tuner specialising in competition and high-performance cars based in Magny-Cours, famous for its Formula 1 circuit.

It is important to highlight that the preparer’s technical team set about modifying the engine’s cylinder head and camshaft, also adopting larger valves. The head gasket was made thinner but also more resistant, in order to raise the compression ratio. Both the intake and exhaust ducts were optimised to achieve maximum performance. The result was spectacular: the magic figure of 125 CV was reached at 6,900 rpm, with 140 Nm at 4,800 rpm, achieving 0-100 km/h in 8.5 seconds, and the top speed rose to 205 km/h.

Initially, Danielson and Peugeot agreed to produce 18,000 kits, but the final figure is unknown, and it is also unknown how many of them made it to Spain. This kit remained on sale until 1986, coinciding with the arrival of the 115 CV Peugeot 205 GTi.
