Filtered! The new BMW M5 CS arrives more powerful and aggressive than ever

The new BMW M5 CS is warming up its engines, and we got to know it thanks to a leak on Instagram. Do we know more about it?

Ta-da! We knew it wouldn’t be long before we learned more about the new beast from the sporting division of the Bavarian brand. It is the new BMW M5 CS. A few weeks ago, the brand itself posted a short video on its Instagram profile showing some of the details of the new sports saloon. Now, some images have leaked.

The BMW M5 CS is ready to launch, and its official unveiling may come much sooner than we think, but it was only a matter of time before a leak like the one we are telling you about occurred. Apparently, the photos leaked on Instagram show a new, more aggressive BMW M5 with copper-coloured details and yellow lighting, in pure competition style and paying special tribute to its predecessors.

BMW M5 CS, a tough saloon to beat

At the end of last year, 2020, Markus Flasch, head of BMW’s M division, stated that this new saloon will offer 626 CV and that its weight will be reduced by 70 kg, which helps to optimise performance. It will also feature the carbon-fibre bucket seats of the BMW M4, among other features.

The new BMW M5 CS gains around 26 CV over the standard BMW M5 and about 10 CV more than the BMW M5 Competition. All this power will come from a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine from BMW. We will still have to wait to hear the official details of BMW, but we expect carbon fibre to play a key role.

The BMW M5 joins the BMW M2 as the first models to receive a CS version. Along with this additional power, the CS’s suspension is smaller and has been tuned especially for circuits. It also features carbon-ceramic brakes, lightweight wheels, and exposed carbon-fibre bonnet, roof and mirrors.

The powertrain is paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and features a special differential setting to allow drifting. It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds. The Bavarian brand is focusing on weight savings, which means the new BMW models will have fewer luxuries and lighter materials. The brand has committed to revealing all the vehicle’s details before the end of this month of January, but time is running short. The official price is unknown, but everything points to it starting above 100,000 euros, since the Competition variant is already close to 105,000 euros. Would you buy one?
