GWM ORA Electric Cars Hybrid Cars
GWM launches in Spain with a multi-energy range and attractive prices
GWM has started its activity in Spain with an interesting model strategy, with its own subsidiary, an expanding sales network and a logistics structure designed for the long term.
The Chinese group has set up its own subsidiary, is working on rolling out a dealership network and is preparing a range that will span from compact SUVs to off-road vehicles, seven-seat vehicles and pick-ups.
The strategy moves away from an exclusive bet on electric cars. Under the slogan “All scenarios. All propulsion systems. For all users”, GWM is proposing a multi-energy offer that will combine petrol engines, hybrids, plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles. This diversity will allow the company to target different customer profiles and usage needs, although it will also force it to manage an especially broad range during its first years on the Spanish market.

The group was founded in 1990 and is headquartered in Baoding, China. It operates in more than 170 countries and regions, has more than 16 million users and distributes its products through several specialised brands: HAVAL, ORA, POER, WEY and TANK. In 2025 it sold 1,323,672 vehicles, of which more than 500,000 were sold outside China.
The ORA 5 opens the Spanish range
The first vehicle chosen for this new stage is the GWM ORA 5, a 4.47-metre compact SUV, which arrives with three propulsion systems. The petrol version uses a 1.5 turbo engine producing 160 CV, while the hybrid develops 223 CV, has a homologated consumption of 5.1 l/100 km and carries the ECO label from the DGT.
The third alternative,
fully electric, combines a 204 CV motor with a 58.3 kWh LFP battery and offers up to 435 kilometres of homologated range. With this configuration, GWM intends for a single model to compete both in the conventional SUV market and in the hybrid and electric segments.

The announced price starts at 19,950 euros for the petrol version, although this figure is tied to commercial campaigns, financing and the conditions established for the launch. The hybrid variant starts at 22,350 euros financed and the electric one is priced from 23,950 euros with the conditions associated with the GWM Plan Auto+.

Inside, the ORA 5 features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch multimedia screen and the Coffee OS 3 operating system. The safety equipment includes more than 20 driver assistance systems and seven airbags. The warranty is seven years or 150,000 kilometres, while the battery is covered for eight years or 160,000 kilometres.
Four new models on the horizon
The ORA 5 is the first of several launches planned for 2026. GWM has already shown four other vehicles that offer a preview of how its catalogue will be structured in Spain, although it has not yet specified the marketing timetable, the final versions or the prices of each one.

The GWM H7 is a family-oriented SUV designed to combine on-road use with greater capability off the tarmac. The TANK 300 takes a more specialised off-road approach and will use a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The offer will be expanded with the POER P500, a PHEV pick-up with four-wheel drive and a towing capacity of up to 3,500 kilograms. At the top of the range will sit the WEY G9, a seven-seat four-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid MPV, aimed at the market for large family vehicles with a premium positioning.

More than 50 dealerships before the end of 2026
One of GWM’s main challenges will be to quickly develop its sales and after-sales structure. The company expects to exceed 30 sales and service points over the summer and reach more than 50 before the end of 2026.
Parts distribution will rely on the European warehouse located in the Netherlands and a national facility in Azuqueca de Henares. For its part, the Port of Barcelona has been chosen as the entry and distribution point for vehicles destined for the Spanish market.

GWM’s arrival comes in a market where price, product and technology are no longer the only decisive factors for new brands. Territorial coverage, parts availability, repair times and the trust generated by the sales network will be decisive elements.
The company will accompany the rollout with a visibility strategy linked to sport. GWM will be the official sponsor of the Liga Endesa, the Copa del Rey, the Supercopa Endesa and the Minicopa Endesa for three seasons.
