IKEA will use more than 10 eActros 600 trucks from Mercedes-Benz in its logistics operations in Italy
IKEA, in collaboration with its logistics partner LC3 Trasporti and truck manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, has launched a pioneering project in Italy aimed at reducing CO2 emissions in road freight transport. The Swedish company plans to have, before the third quarter of 2026, a fleet of more than ten Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric trucks, of which a couple of units are already in operation today carrying out regular logistics tasks.
LC3 Trasporti has previous experience with this model, as in June of last year it became the first Italian customer to receive the eActros 600 to be used for Lidl’s logistics services. At that time an order of 30 units was announced, although it was not specified whether all of them were assigned exclusively to the German supermarket chain. We now know that more than ten of these trucks will be progressively incorporated to serve IKEA’s logistics tasks.

The two eActros 600 units already serving IKEA in Italy are used daily to transport containers between the ports of Genoa and La Spezia and the Piacenza distribution centre, as well as making deliveries to stores in northern Italy. Once the fleet of electric trucks intended for IKEA is complete, it is estimated that they will cover more than 1.2 million kilometres per year without generating CO2 emissions.
“Thanks to this triangular alliance with LC3 Trasporti and Daimler Truck, a solution has been designed that not only reduces total costs, but also contributes to a cleaner and quieter environment, in line with IKEA’s mission to improve everyday life.”
The satisfaction of a job well done
Mercedes-Benz also stresses that the eActros 600 is the result of many years of development. An enormous effort aimed at radically transforming road freight transport. That is why seeing it in service on this scale, serving two visionary companies such as LC3 and IKEA, confirms that electrification is already a reality, they say.

The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 entered series production in November 2024 and is the first fully electric articulated truck from Daimler Truck designed specifically for long-haul routes. Equipped with a 621 kWh LFP battery, it offers up to 500 km of range under optimal conditions. Its technical specifications make the electrification of heavy transport in Europe finally a reality, positioning it as a viable alternative to the diesel trucks that have been used until now.
