Long waiting lists for Opel and Peugeot's long-range electric models

This situation highlights the challenges that the transition to electric mobility still faces, even for highly sought-after models and at a group as major as Stellantis.

Opel and Peugeot, two of the Stellantis brands, are facing significant delays in deliveries of their long-range electric models in Europe. At least, that is what a recent report claims.

The affected models are the Opel Grandland Long Range, as well as the Peugeot e-3008 and e-5008 in their longest-range versions with the high-capacity battery pack. According to the dealerships of both brands in Germany, deliveries of the versions with greater range have been delayed considerably for new orders being placed, with expected delivery dates stretching into the first or second quarter of 2027. In some cases, not even a firm delivery date has been provided.

This situation is generating growing frustration among both customers and dealerships. The problem is especially worrying for both brands, since it affects precisely those customers willing to pay more, around 5,000 euros extra, to configure the vehicle with a higher-capacity battery pack. Dealerships are also forced to bear additional costs, as some customers demand a replacement vehicle while they wait, and in other cases they lose a sale because customers grow tired of waiting and end up cancelling the order.

What is causing this situation?

According to industry sources, the reason for these delays could be the priority Stellantis is giving to large orders from corporate fleets. Although the company has not officially confirmed this, a spokesperson acknowledged that demand, especially from B2B customers, far exceeds current production capacity. Nearly 90 percent of orders for these models come from company fleets.

Stellantis expects to complete deliveries of corporate fleet orders by September 2026, and from that point on the situation should gradually return to normal. This will not, however, prevent a good number of customers from having to wait until well into 2027 to receive their vehicle.
