Skoda Epiq: the affordable compact SUV from the Czech manufacturer makes its first public appearance in Germany
The Skoda Epiq is presented as an even more affordable alternative to the ID. Cross from Volkswagen, aimed at anyone looking for a compact SUV with generous interior space.
Skoda took advantage of IAA Mobility 2025, held this week in the German city of Munich, to unveil a prototype very close to the final production version of the Epiq, its new compact electric SUV, sibling to the Volkswagen ID. Cross, whose prototype was also recently presented.
The Epiq promises to be one of the most practical and affordable vehicles from the Czech manufacturer, with a starting price expected to be around 25,000 euros. The final production version is scheduled to reach the market in mid-next year.

Volkswagen Group’s presence at IAA Mobility in Munich focused on revealing the wide range of compact models the German manufacturer is developing to give fresh impetus to the electrification of its lineup. Alongside the ID. Polo and the ID. Cross, which we have already discussed recently, the company has also presented the Skoda Epiq and the Cupra Raval.
Modifications, just enough
As the images show, the design of the Epiq retains the essence of the original prototype that was presented in March of last year, but incorporates some adjustments to adapt it for series production. As with other Skoda electric models, the Epiq does not lack the Tech-Deck Face, with a suggested grille and an LED light signature. Although the headlights and the lower air intake have been slightly modified compared with the initial prototype, the overall appearance keeps the same design line. One detail worth mentioning is the inclusion of a license plate holder on the front, which was absent in the 2024 design.
In the side view of the Epiq, more realistic wing mirrors and larger door handles can be seen. At the rear, the changes are more noticeable, with significant modifications to the light clusters. It is also important to note that the Skoda logo is no longer illuminated as it was on the original prototype, probably to reduce costs.

At 4.1 metres long, the Epiq is slightly shorter than the ID. Cross, which reaches 4.16 metres. The wheelbase, however, is exactly the same at 2.60 metres. Skoda promises a boot capacity of 475 litres, surpassing the 450 litres of the ID. Cross, and a spacious interior for five passengers. As for range, the Epiq will be able to cover up to 425 km on a single charge under the WLTP homologation cycle with the 58 kWh NMC battery. The most affordable version of this compact SUV will, however, be fitted with a smaller-capacity LFP battery pack, which will slightly reduce the vehicle’s total range.
“Made in Spain”
Skoda states that the price of the Epiq will be truly competitive, comparable to that of the combustion-engined Kamiq, which starts at 25,330 euros in Germany. Production will begin in 2025 at Volkswagen’s Spanish plant in Pamplona, where the ID. Cross will also be assembled.
