Tesla has 1,230 reservations for the 100% electric Semi Truck... Or so we think

Elon Musk’s company seems to have managed to catch the attention of major American companies with its 100% electric truck, with 1,230 reservations

Elon Musk is a visionary, so almost nothing he proposes surprises us. And the possibility that he has managed to interest many of the potential buyers of a 100% electric truck is by no means far from what could become reality. According to a post on his Twitter account, several orders are already underway. And if we go by what is shown there, those reservations could already amount to 1,230 units of the Semi, Tesla’s proposal for electric commercial mobility.

This promises not only good news for Tesla, but we can also expect the rest of the manufacturers that are preparing similar vehicles and that will soon present them to hurry up and occupy a segment of the market that still seems very distant. And although the figures proposed by Tesla’s truck are quite impressive, there are many doubts about the real efficiency of a fully electric truck.

In theory, for each reservation made for a Tesla Semi, a deposit of 20,000 dollars must be paid, so the amount raised by Tesla for the development of the truck could amount to more than 24 million dollars, which will come in very handy for securing financing for manufacturing the truck.

A few days ago we discovered that the beverage company Anheuser-Busch, owner of the brand Budweiser, for example, has ordered no fewer than 40 Tesla Semis as part of its strategy to reduce its environmental footprint by 30% by 2015. Along with this company, the reservations for these trucks by Sysco and Wal-Mart have also been made public.

To refresh your memory and to show what is expected of this zero-emission truck, it should be noted that it will be capable of covering around 800 kilometers between charges, even with the 36,000 kilograms it carries as maximum load. With these figures, it is more than possible that many companies have set their sights on this truck to save on fuel costs and improve their environmental footprint figures, something that large companies take very seriously. Will it finally become a real option sooner than we think?
