The Devel Sixteen of 5000 CV is far from becoming a reality

The Devel Sixteen hypercar of 5000 CV is a project based in Dubai that seems to be closer to oblivion than to actual realization. Paolo Garella, one of the project’s lead engineers, has recently left this initiative.

The incredible idea of creating a hypercar of 5000 CV called Devel Sixteen seemed destined to become reality, especially considering the project is located in Dubai, one of the places where the most money is generated from the sale of top-of-the-range vehicles.

From sources that appear to be reliable, we have received news that Paolo Garella, one of the project’s main lead engineers, has decided to abandon this initiative. One of the problems lies in the ambitious V16 engine, for which no viable cooling solution has been found, which could lead to overheating that might destroy the engine itself and prove highly dangerous.

Few people know that turning a prototype into a production model is one of the most demanding and costly phases in automotive development. Drawing the car in our mind and expressing it in design software is one thing, but making the idea a reality and, additionally, a viable option is quite another.

The stunning, futuristic model could be seen at more than one show, and it was hard to imagine how a 5,000 CV engine could fit into such a small space, although it now seems our suspicions are gaining strength.

There are companies capable of carrying out an engineering feat as demanding as this one in Dubai. Without going any further, one could count on the experience and prestige of Dubai’s W Motors, who used Rimac for the Hypersport, or Magna with its most recent production, the “Fenryr”.

Paolo Garella’s company now dedicates itself to building modern and luxurious Lancia Stratoses based on Ferraris.

Dubai’s dream of creating the Devel Sixteen of 320 mph will no longer have the invaluable experience of the Garellas. According to our source, the Devel Sixteen has a long list of problems that have ended up resulting in a “wanting but not being able.”

It seems that the cooling problems for everyday use on public roads, combined with the project’s excessive ambitions, will put a final stop, for now, to this automotive marvel which, though it may be somewhat embarrassing for the engineers to admit, does not have the technology necessary for its development as of today.
