The entire range of electric vehicles from NIO in China now comes standard with a 100 kWh battery
It remains to be seen whether the Chinese manufacturer will also introduce this upgrade in its range of vehicles available in other markets, such as Europe, over the coming weeks or months.
NIO has just taken an important step in the Chinese market by standardising its long-range 100 kWh battery pack across all of its vehicles. This measure already applies to the manufacturer’s entire range, including the ET5, ET5 Touring, ES6, EC6, ET7 and EC7 models, which were previously sold in their most affordable versions with a standard 75 kWh battery pack.
To improve the competitiveness of its electric models in the Chinese market, NIO has not only limited itself to increasing the range of the entry-level versions of its various models with the new 100 kWh pack, but has also cut the selling price by between 7.7 and 10.1 percent depending on the model.

For example, the ET5 and ET5 Touring now have a starting price of 298,000 yuan, which represents a reduction from the 336,000 yuan they cost before. The other models, such as the ES6, EC6, ET7 and EC7, also see similar price cuts. With the 100 kWh battery pack, the range of the manufacturer’s various models is now around 700 km CLTC, with the ET5 saloon reaching up to 740 km.
The 75 kWh battery pack does not disappear completely
It is important to point out, however, that NIO continues to offer the 75 kWh battery pack, although it is now restricted solely to customers who buy the vehicle without a battery as standard and opt for the rental scheme with the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription plan. Under this plan, the 75 kWh battery pack costs 728 yuan per month – roughly 87 euros, while the 100 kWh one costs 1,128 yuan per month – 135 euros. This service allows NIO drivers to use the brand’s battery swap stations.
According to Chinese media reports, this decision by NIO is a response to complaints from some customers about the performance of the standard-range battery, and follows a recent 20,000 yuan reduction in the price of vehicles equipped with the extended-range battery pack.

Finally, it should be noted that, for now, these price and equipment updates are limited exclusively to the Chinese market. The 75 kWh standard-range battery pack is still offered in other markets, such as Germany, both for outright purchase and under the BaaS subscription plan.
