The FIAT 600 is now also available with a 100 hp petrol engine

In an effort to boost its sales, FIAT is now putting the 600 on sale with its new generation of conventional 100 hp petrol engines

A few days ago we told you how the Peugeot 208 and 2008 were benefiting from the new generation of Turbo 100 engines, that is, those that Stellantis internally calls Puretech Gen3 and which are the evolution, with the errors resolved, of the original Puretech engines that, as you know, caused numerous problems, mainly due to the oil-bathed timing belt. Well, if the Peugeot 208 and 2008 were the first to receive the new evolution, now it is the turn of FIAT and its 600.

This means that the FIAT 600 will now remain available in its fully electric version or with mild-hybrid technology, with the addition of the petrol engine version Turbo 100 for those looking for a traditional, time-tested engine. Let us remember that this engine evolution incorporates new components such as pistons, piston rings, cylinder head, as well as a new variable valve timing system, direct injection or a variable geometry turbocharger. That said, the timing chain is retained to avoid unnecessary headaches.

This petrol engine is a three-cylinder unit of 1,199 cc, delivering a power output of 101 hp (74 kW) at 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 205 Nm from 1,750 rpm, coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the front axle. Thanks to this configuration, the FIAT 600 records a combined consumption of 5.7 l/100 km along with CO2 emissions of 129 g/km, figures approved under the WLTP cycle.
