The new Porsche Taycan 2025 improves on the few drawbacks of the previous generation with a top grade

Range will no longer be the Taycan’s Achilles’ heel, as it is now capable of covering up to 687 km on a single charge under the WLTP homologation cycle

The electric sports car from the Stuttgart-based company has been completely renewed after almost five years on the market, maintaining the same competitive spirit while significantly improving its range, charging power and on-road performance.

Based on the same MEB-EVO platform as its predecessor, the new Taycan 2025 incorporates a number of updated components, among which its new high-performance battery pack, a more powerful motor on the rear axle, a new inverter, a fully redesigned battery temperature management system with a heat pump, as well as a substantial improvement in energy recovery under braking, stand out. In addition, and in case that were not enough, Porsche has increased the level of standard equipment offered.

As expected, the new Taycan will be available in two variants: the conventional one and the more adventurous Cross Turismo. Although both will enjoy the same improvements, the first will reach the market a little earlier, this coming summer, while the second will have to wait until next autumn before it can be seen on the streets and roads.

The improvement in power and performance of the new Taycan 2025 will obviously be reflected in its acceleration figures, which will be reduced by approximately half a second in each of the available versions. Thus, at the top of the range, the new Taycan Turbo S will be able to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in about two and a half seconds, according to the manufacturer. It should also be noted that all versions of the Taycan 2025 will include adaptive suspension as standard, which will improve the vehicle’s dynamic behaviour.

With the new Taycan you’ll go much further

However, the new Taycan 2025 will shine most compared with the previous generation in terms of range and supported charging power. The Stuttgart company will offer two different battery packs, which in both cases have their capacity increased by approximately 12 percent. The new Performance Plus battery pack now goes up to 105 kWh, whereas before it had 93 kWh. Meanwhile, the more affordable one, which comes as standard with the Taycan and Taycan 4S, goes from 79 kWh to 89 kWh.

With higher-capacity battery packs, a substantial increase in the range of the new Taycan 2025 is logical to expect, and so it will be. Porsche states that, depending on the version chosen, the range under the WLTP homologation cycle can reach up to 687 km, thus becoming one of the most outstanding models in its segment in this respect.

Fast on the track and also at the charging point

Finally, we cannot conclude without referring to the reduction in charging times that will be possible with the new Taycan 2025, thanks to an increase in peak supported power which rises from 270 kW to 320 kW. In this way, Porsche states that all versions, regardless of the battery pack they are fitted with, are capable of increasing the battery’s state of charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes under optimal conditions.

The new Taycan 2025 is also capable of recovering 30 percent more energy under braking, generating up to 400 kW instead of the 290 kW of the previous generation. A notable improvement that also explains the substantial increase in total range.
