208 Peugeot Electric Cars Compact Geneva Motor Show
The Peugeot e-208 showcases its capabilities and confirms itself as a fully electric option
The 100% electric version of the Peugeot 208 has been presented at the Geneva Motor Show, offering a range of 340 kilometres and a power output of 136 CV

The Peugeot 208 debuts a second generation, and among the different versions that will go on sale over the course of the year, the Peugeot e-208 stands out as the variant fitted with a complete fully electric powertrain. This version will allow Peugeot to position itself in the zero-emission B-segment, so it can drive around town without trouble despite the traffic restrictions in city centres.
The new Peugeot e-208 is built on the e-CMP platform, which is the electrified variant of the same platform used by other models in the brand. The electric model uses a 100 kW electric motor, equivalent to 136 CV and a maximum torque of 260 Nm, which it delivers consistently, as is typical of an electric car.

The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is rated at 8.1 seconds, a figure that doesn’t sound especially spectacular but lets it handle the type of driving it is designed for, urban driving. This time is achieved using Sport driving mode, alongside the Eco and Normal modes.

Two regenerative braking systems for the Peugeot e-208
One of the features of the Peugeot e-208 is its two regenerative braking modes. The Moderate mode gives a braking feel similar to a combustion car. The other mode is Boost, which offers greater regenerative braking capacity, and the effect intensifies when you lift off the accelerator.
The battery is located in the lower part of the car and has a capacity of 50 kWh, which means it can provide a range of around 340 kilometres. The cooling system keeps the battery in good condition for longer, and the brand promises that the charge level will remain at least 70% for at least 8 years or 160,000 kilometres.
As for charging time, this varies from 16 hours to charge with a domestic charger, down to 30 minutes to reach 80% of battery capacity with a fast charger. The first units will be delivered in autumn 2019, so the Peugeot e-208 will soon be on our streets. By the way, following the launch of this model, the next Peugeot 208 GT is expected to offer a fully electric version that retains the sporty character of the model.
