BMW Serie 7 Sedans Range / versions
The range of the new BMW 7 Series G11 is leaked by the Austrian configurator

The next generation of the BMW 7 Series, whose code will be G11 -G12 for the long-wheelbase model-, will be presented this Wednesday 10 around seven in the evening. But an evolution of an iconic model such as its most prestigious saloon has aroused interest months before its unveiling. So much so that, to the brand’s dismay, its exterior design was discovered just hours before the end of 2014 when Autoblog.nl published images of a unit without camouflage spotted by a reader.
Bad luck has once again taken its toll on BMW, and this time it originated on one of its websites. The configurator of BMW Austria included it too far in advance among the available models – it has since been removed – leaking new images of how the 7 Series can be customised, more information about the range of versions and other details that reveal part of what awaits us in the press kit the Munich brand will publish in two days’ time.

We begin by examining the engines of the new generation. As we explained in October 2014, the saloon will use the new modular engines of six cylinders developed by BMW. The pairing will consist of a diesel and a petrol unit.
The diesel is called B57, will power the 730d and will deliver 265 horsepower, seven more than the F01’s N57D30. Its combined-cycle consumption will drop by more than a litre, from 5.6 to 4.5 l/100 km, making it the most efficient flagship of the German trio – the Mercedes-Benz S 350 d consumes 5.5 l/100 km and the Audi A8 3.0 TDI ultra 5.7 l/100 km.
The petrol unit is the B58. This powerplant debuted in the 340i with the 3 Series update. It will be fitted to the 740i and produces 326 CV, an increase of six horsepower over the F01’s N55B30. Its fuel consumption improvement will also represent a major step forward: it will need 6.6 litres to cover 100 kilometres, whereas the previous 740i recorded 7.9 l/100 km.
The initial range will be completed by the 750i with xDrive all-wheel drive. It will keep the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 and 449 CV as the F01. The difference lies in the fact that, thanks to modifications introduced by BMW, fuel consumption will drop considerably, from 9.3 to 8.1 l/100 km. It can be deduced that, with rear-wheel drive, the figure will be lower than eight litres.
Next year the new four-cylinder B47 diesel with 231 CV, fitted to the new X1 sDrive25d, will arrive. There is still no concrete launch date for the 740e with plug-in hybrid propulsion system. Stranger still is that the configurator did not mention the twelve-cylinder versions, the 760i and 760Li, which did appear in the previews released by BMW last week.

The web application indicates that the 7 Series G11 will be sold in thirteen colours exterior in its standard palette, wheel styles from 17 to 20 inches, a more luxurious decorative line called Pure Excellence and, as is customary in these representative saloons, a wide selection of options. The screenshots show how the M aerodynamic package looks, the panoramic roof exclusive to the long-wheelbase body, or the exterior lights that guide you to the car.

It should be noted that the technological display on this occasion will be unmatched: adaptive LED lighting system, digital instrument cluster, Driving Assistant Plus technology with Stop&Go function – allowing semi-automatic driving in traffic jams -, all the new functions and new ConnectedDrive services, etc. On Wednesday we will fill in the missing gaps.
