ID.3 Volkswagen Electric Cars Supercars
The Volkswagen ID.R will return to Goodwood to keep its title of fastest intact
The Goodwood Festival will begin in less than a month, and the Volkswagen ID.R is more ready than ever to defend its title and its record against any rival.

Electric powertrains were originally created to reduce to zero the emissions generated by combustion engines, but this does not prevent them from also being powerful. The Volkswagen ID.R, a racing supercar that has proven its worth on some of the most demanding circuits in the world, such as the Nürburgring, where it showed off its improved aerodynamics, demonstrates this. However, it was last year at the Goodwood Festival where it claimed victory, and in this new edition of the British competition the ID.R does not want to miss the chance to keep showing its abilities on the track.
Volkswagen and its ID.R are determined to keep the title they earned at Goodwood, where an impressive record backs up the capabilities of the German electric car. To be more precise, Romain Dumas was in charge of driving the supercar from the Wolfsburg-based manufacturer around the British circuit, and he has praised on more than one occasion the potential of this type of vehicle.
The French driver managed to cover the 1.86 kilometres of the track in just 43.86 seconds. Without a doubt, over the course of this year many competitors have worked hard to try to dethrone the Volkswagen ID.R, not only one of the fastest models from the brand itself, but also one of those with the greatest technological and aerodynamic arsenal.

Last year Volkswagen went to Goodwood with the same ID.R that broke the record at Pikes Peak, but on this occasion a specific variant was created for the competition. The same thing happened when the German supercar faced the Green Hell, where a tuning of various components was needed to diligently overcome the challenges of the German track.
According to the Director of Volkswagen Motorsport, Sven Smeets, various modifications have been applied to the ID.R to guarantee victory at Goodwood. Although little data has been revealed, Smeets states that smaller batteries have been used to reduce the weight of the package, just as the energy management has been adjusted, which is now much more aggressive and suited to completing the English track.

In this way, the Volkswagen is even better prepared to face the Goodwood Festival, one of the most intense and exciting competitions of all time. It demands a very specific preparation from its participants, and it will bring out the worth of the cars when they must face a very fast, twisty and energetic circuit.
