The Volvo EX60 will have a Cross Country version, but it will take a while to reach Spain

Continuing the tradition started in 1997, the Volvo fully electric models will have their respective Cross Country version, as in the recently presented EX60

Just a few days ago we showed you the new Volvo EX60, another SUV but this time fully electric, which promises premium design, equipment and materials but, more importantly in an electric vehicle, a high range that can reach up to 810 kilometres depending on the powertrain we ultimately choose. This new model will be joined by a version with a more rugged look: the EX60 Cross Country.

It was in 1997 when the Swedish brand launched the first Cross Country version, models that at the time usually took a family saloon from the Volvo range as their base and were modified mainly on the exterior with a styling aimed at venturing off the asphalt, giving us models such as the V40 Cross Country, the V60 Cross Country or the V90 Cross Country, among others. This designation has also reached the brand’s electric vehicles, with the EX30 Cross Country being the first to receive it, which we got to know last summer.

Now Volvo is also extending the Cross Country name to the newly presented EX60, a model that, if you choose this version, will begin by offering the Frost Green colour, which is added to the EX60’s colour palette but is exclusive to the Cross Country version. It won’t be the only thing: despite being an SUV, the EX60 Cross Country reinforces its rugged image with elements such as brushed stainless steel underbody protectors at both the front and rear, as well as protections on the lower part of the doors and in the wheel arches, which are wider and house mixed-size tyres. All of this is complemented by badges specific to this version that remind us which model we are looking at.

As part of its equipment, the Volvo EX60 Cross Country will strengthen its off-road presence with a chassis height that is increased by 20 mm, a height that can be raised by a further 20 mm if the air suspension is fitted as part of its equipment, thus allowing easier and more carefree access to uneven terrain that could damage the underbody. Naturally, if the air suspension is fitted, it will also be possible to lower the EX60 Cross Country, a feature that is useful for improving aerodynamics, stability and efficiency when driving at high speed on roads such as motorways.

If we opt for the Volvo EX60 Cross Country, we can choose it with two of the three powertrains announced at the EX60 presentation. Firstly, we can opt for the P10 AWD powertrain, consisting of two electric motors that generate a total output of 510 CV sent to all four wheels, with a maximum range of 660 km. Secondly, we can also opt for the P12 AWD powertrain with the same motor configuration but with output rising to 680 CV, together with a maximum range of 810 km.

The new Volvo EX60 Cross Country is already available for advance orders in some European markets. In Spain, according to the Volvo website in our country, its arrival at dealerships is not expected until mid-2027, with a price starting from 70,950 euros.
