This Ford Mustang from 1967 comes back to life with an electric motor thanks to Charge
Charge Cars has unveiled an electric car based on the Ford Mustang from 1967, which they have brought into the 21st century with an electric drive system.

The electrification of cars means that many people forget about their old vehicles and have to buy new models, with modern and more sustainable powertrains. But those who want to keep their old models or even buy one of them, old and with a very different look, have an option: the restomod.
This trend makes it possible to have a car from another era, but prepared to be driven in today’s world. The tuner Charge Cars has worked on the chassis of a Ford Mustang from 1967 to turn it into an efficient electric car. They presented this model in 2019, but it was not until 2021 that they showed the final version.

Curiously, Charge Cars went bankrupt in July 2024, so hopes of seeing one of these cars finished vanished. Until the company was bought by an investment fund a few weeks ago. Now, they have already set to work on this model and have several units ready to be delivered to buyers within a relatively short time.

FORD MUSTANG EV'67 CHARGE CARS
The EV’67
This model does not use the body of the original 1967 Mustang; instead, it has been created by Charge, with the explicit permission of Ford, to be much lighter. The materials used to make the various body elements are light and strong. They sit on a new platform too, so this car is practically a new design.
And the powerful V8 engine of the 1967 Mustang? So that the electric drivetrain offers the same sensations as a combustion engine, four electric motors have been installed, one at each wheel. The total output of these four motors is 536 CV and a torque of 1,520 Nm. With these figures, it reaches 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
With four motors, it offers the Vortex system, which allows it to spin on the spot. It also offers torque vectoring in corners, so it provides greater safety when cornering. The battery that powers these four motors has a capacity of 63 kWh. This gives a range of 320 kilometres. It can be charged with a charger of up to 50 kW.
Exterior and interior
On the outside, this EV’67 looks very much like the car it is based on. However, the chrome elements that this model originally had have been replaced by black elements. Inside, however, an update has been considered, so the cabin is dominated by a vertical screen. In front of the driver there is a screen for the instrumentation and a three-spoke steering wheel.
Among the available technology, we find smartphone connectivity, a custom sound system, traction control, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking and ABS. The price starts at £350,000 and 499 units are expected to be built. However, due to the difficulties the company has had, it is not known whether they will be able to meet this production target.
