The successor to the Bugatti Chiron shows us its interior, as it has been tested on the Nürburgring circuit and has proven that it passes without problems.

In 2020, Bugatti announced the launch of the Bolide, a hypercar that promised a lot of thrills for those who would get behind its wheel. Production has not yet started, but several tests are being carried out that bring that date closer, which will bring this model to the garages of the 40 lucky buyers who have been able to purchase this model, which has already been confirmed as sold out.

The brand has wanted to show us the skeleton of the supercar, made up of a high-strength carbon fibre monocoque chassis, with a structure previously used in Formula 1 and the WEC. Even so, the images let us see a car that looks wilder than it will ultimately be, since it does not have its bodywork fitted and shows only the base on which the model is mounted.

High-competition-level safety

To shape it, Bugatti has used the standards required by the FIA for cars that will take part in competitions such as Le Mans, so the occupants will be able to move around safely in this supercar. These requirements led Bugatti to carry out crash tests, in which it subjected the windscreen pillars to a load of 7.5 t. This test verified that the displacement stays within a maximum of 50 mm from the point where that load was applied.

Another of the tests the vehicle has undergone is the rollover test, with the application of 12 t, which it also passed with ease. The third test consisted of applying a longitudinal load of 6 t, which it passed without problems.

However, driving comfort will not be so present when getting in and out of the vehicle. Its design makes access to the cabin somewhat uncomfortable. To improve this aspect, the Bolide’s designers have proposed a rather original solution. The outer part of the headrests are attached to the vertically opening doors, so more space is offered for getting in and out.

Other safety equipment this model includes is six-point harnesses and a fire extinguishing system to avoid risks.

The engine fitted to this model is the same one used by the Bugatti Chiron. That is, an 8.0-litre W16 block with four turbos. With this, a brutal power output of 1,600 CV and a maximum torque of 1,600 Nm is achieved. Its approximate top speed is 500 km/h, and its weight of 1,450 kg also contributes to this. Of course, it is not a car designed for road use, but it will let its driver enjoy the track a great deal.
