Following the lead of other brands, Toyota has launched a camper version of its most popular van, created by the Polish division of the Japanese brand.

Some brands have a division specialized in manufacturing camper vans, which carry out the necessary modifications on each model themselves so that everything meets their specifications. Toyota has decided to follow that approach and has launched a line to convert its most iconic van into a camper ready for leisure time.

The conversion of the Toyota Proace Verso Tanuki was a joint effort between the brand’s division in Poland, AE Conversions and Escape Vans. This means that for now it will only be sold in the Polish market, although its commercialization is expected to extend to other European countries.

The unit presented to the media has a very recognizable two-tone body. The lower part is painted in dark brown metallic and the upper part contrasts with white paint. On the lower part of the front doors the name Tanuki can be read, which is the variant of the van that has been turned into a practical camper.

The rear privacy glass, both on the window and the rear section, is tinted to ensure privacy. It has two sliding doors, one on each side. The front seats can swivel to face the rear ones. There are also several storage spaces and room for four people to rest comfortably.

There is a bed in the retractable roof section, and at the rear another bed for two more people can be unfolded. It measures 2.1 meters long by 1.35 meters wide. In terms of equipment, there is an extra heater that warms the cabin to keep a pleasant temperature during camping nights.

Buyers can also choose from a long list of optional extras, including a foldable solar panel that produces 150 W and equipment to carry two or four bicycles that attaches to the rear door.

This model is not kept in stock; it is built to order. It is available with two diesel engines, both 2.0 litres, with outputs of 140 and 177 CV. The first has a six-speed manual gearbox and the second a eight-speed automatic gearbox. The launch price is not yet known, but it is sure to be quite attractive for enthusiasts of this type of vehicle. We hope to have this model in Spain soon!
