Video: these 5 reasons why you shouldn't drive a Bugatti every day

Today we bring you a video from an owner of several Bugatti, among other supercars, who gives five reasons why you shouldn’t drive a Bugatti every day.

You’ve probably already started to recognize the name Manny Khoshbin, one of the most charismatic car collectors on the current scene. And Mr. Khoshbin has a truly impressive lineup of vehicles, where the most modest one may well be one of the five Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren that reside in his garage. However, today he hasn’t come to talk about modesty, but about five reasons why you shouldn’t drive a Bugatti every day, even if you have enough money to do so.

The reputation for high maintenance of a Bugatti Veyron or Chiron -it doesn’t matter which, since both models are in Manny Khoshbin’s collection- is no surprise, since it’s to be expected from such an exclusive car that comfortably exceeds 1,000 CV. However, our protagonist has opened our eyes to the rest of mortals after showing us a reality and a maintenance routine that will give you chills.

Fuel

To start with, Khoshbin tells us about the ability of his Bugatti to, quite literally, pulverize the petrol in its tank. It’s logical to expect that a car with a quad-turbo W16 capable of producing 1,500 CV will consume a lot, but not that it will run out so quickly -of course, it all depends a little on how heavy your right foot is-.

He claims you’ll never see average consumption below 21 litres per 100 km, and that filling the tank usually costs around 180 dollars, roughly 150 euros at the exchange rate. That said, this only applies as long as the petrol station stocks 100-octane fuel, something Manny Khoshbin finds not so easy to come by. The problem here isn’t so much whether he has the money to feed his Bugatti, but how many times he has to visit the petrol station with them.

Maintenance and damage

Another major problem with using a Bugatti every day is its maintenance. The French manufacturer makes you face an outlay of 38,000 dollars -31,000 euros- for a set of four tyres that they recommend replacing every four years. But of course, if you drive your hypercar a lot, that time shrinks to one year, and even if you’re a multimillionaire it can’t be pleasant to spend every year on tyres what a sporty compact costs.

Oil change? 22,000 dollars, or in other words, 18,000 euros. And yes, if you drive it a lot you’ll have to do it once a year, which isn’t pleasant either. But that’s not the end of it, since any damage you do to your Bugatti will cost you dearly: if you scratch a rim or it needs replacing, you’ll have to pay 100,000 dollars, 82,000 euros at the exchange rate.

A small garage

This is a problem that concerns Manny Khoshbin and he admits it himself. In most cases, he has to move several cars just to get one out. The multimillionaire says he leads a very hectic life, and that moving four or five cars just to take a short drive isn’t always worth it, especially when it’s one of his Bugatti.

Practicality and speed bumps

The last problem -which is two in one- is the limited versatility of the Bugatti. Khoshbin points out in his video that it’s neither a comfortable car for taking the kids to school nor for travelling, although we assume he has a much more suitable car for that purpose.

Another reason you shouldn’t drive a Bugatti every day is the attention it attracts. As Manny Khoshbin says, there are days when you’d rather go unnoticed, and certainly a Bugatti Veyron or a Chiron are not the best allies for that.
