Volkswagen Beetle GT: a creation born from Gran Turismo, made real

The tuners JP Performance and Prior Design have brought to the real world the concept we first met in the Gran Turismo saga that won over hearts

Volkswagen Beetle GT

The Volkswagen Beetle GT is one of those concepts created by Polyphony Digital -developer of Gran Turismo- that have gone down in history as one of those cars fans longed to see become reality. Responding to this demand, the tuners JP Performance and Prior Design have made that wish come true, bringing us the chance to get one for less than 6,000 euros.

This atomic Beetle, which certainly reminds us of the legendary Beetle RSi, has been customised with numerous exclusive elements to give it a look that is so radical it belongs more to a competition car than to a compact sports car fit for the street.

Packed with steroids

If there is one thing that stands out about this Beetle GT, it is its width, since from whichever angle you look at it, it is radically muscular. At the front, it has been fitted with a specific bumper with large air intakes. At the lower part, it features a carbon fibre splitter on which rest two LED auxiliary lights in yellow, a colour that also appears in the fog lights built into the bumper.

From the side view, the wheel arches -which are already quite pronounced on the Beetle- have been oversized, giving it a great width. This is because they work as air intakes for cooling the brake system and the engine. The large five-spoke alloy wheels are the perfect complement to finish off the profile design, which has been improved by lowering the suspension and thus sitting closer to the ground.

The rear… like a rocket

At the rear, its biggest feature is the gigantic spoiler that rises from the rear window and is made of carbon fibre. On the sides of the rear, there are also completely vertical elements which, together with the spoiler, make it look as though you are looking at the rear of a DTM car.

Under the bonnet, the heart of this incredible machine is the famous 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder turbocharged engine from Audi. Components from the Audi TT RS and the RS3 have also been added to this engine, resulting in no less than 400 CV and 500 Nm of torque, so we are sure that driving this magnificent machine must be a marvel.

A very accessible price

As we said earlier, if you want to turn your Beetle -only the latest generation- into a machine like this, JL Performance and Prior Design ask you for 5,990 euros for the entire body kit, a price that does not include the Audi five-cylinder engine.
