Toyota RAV4 Adventure: Personality and character to spare, ready for adventure
Toyota has just expanded the RAV4 range by adding a more capable version, with a more rugged look and intelligent all-wheel drive as the only option

The Toyota RAV4 was conceived in 1994 as a mixed-use SUV, ideal for travelling on the road without any problems, and for tackling more difficult tracks that conventional cars would not be able to handle.
Throughout all generations this pillar has been maintained, although in this latest one, Toyota decided that only hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions would arrive in Europe, to which a version somewhat more focused on going off the asphalt has finally been added.
This car is called the Toyota RAV4 Adventure and, despite not featuring major new developments in its technical or dynamic aspects, it is a very clever version to cover a segment of the public looking for an SUV with a slightly tougher and more capable look.
Robust and full of character
Starting with the styling, the new Adventure version features a redesigned front end that gives it a lot of personality. Its new black-finished grille, headed by the Toyota logo, its new LED light units, the slightly raised fog lights framed by a black moulding, and a silver-coloured lower bumper section that visually works as a skid plate are the keys that give this RAV4 a more rugged design approach.

From the side, we can see wider wheel arches in black plastic, as well as its sill, something that, in addition to accentuating its character as a capable SUV, visually increases the car’s ground clearance, even though it remains the same as conventional RAV4 versions. Its 19-inch alloy wheels painted in matt grey are another of its novelties, completing the side view of the Toyota.
At the rear, the design bears similarity to the car’s front, as we find a bumper with a lower section in black plastic and a silver-coloured moulding, just as at the front. Along with this, the two exhaust outlets on each side complete the well-judged exterior design of the RAV4 Adventure.
Toyota offers the option of specifying the bodywork of the new RAV4 Adventure in a two-tone configuration, as can be seen on the unit photographed for this article, which is painted in Urban Khaki combined with Dynamic grey on the roof, A-pillars and front and rear mouldings.
Interior with exclusive details
Inside, the cabin of this new version features, as a novelty, a specific upholstery made of synthetic leather and fabric with orange stitching for contrast.

No changes to the powertrain
As we have said before, all RAV4 Adventure models feature the AWD-i all-wheel drive system and will be powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine accompanied by two electric motors, delivering a total of 222 CV. This system will be paired with an e-CVT automatic transmission.
For the moment Toyota has not given further details about its price, and its arrival at dealerships is scheduled for the first quarter of next year, 2022, so we just have to wait for the Japanese brand to reveal more details about this SUV, ready for adventure.
