The latest update to the BMW iX3 now has a price for the Spanish market

Following the changes the X3 has received, and after just one year on the market, BMW has updated the fully electric version, the iX3, now on sale in Spain

It has been just one year since the BMW X3 welcomed its fully electric version, the iX3, but since then the X3 has received an update to its design and equipment, so, since the iX3 is derived directly from its combustion-engined sibling, it was to be expected that the iX3’s original design would not last long. And so it has proved, as BMW presented at the recent Munich Motor Show the update the iX3 has undergone.

The most significant changes current owners of a BMW iX3 will find are on the exterior, where it receives new bumpers at the front that affect the design of the front grille and the headlights, which now have a sharper look. These changes come together with the M Sport exterior pack, which now becomes standard equipment and gives it a more sporty character; along with new 20-inch wheels and blue trim specific to the brand’s electric models, both of the latter being optional.

Stepping inside the new BMW iX3, we see that its centre console now resembles the design found on the new X3 and X4, with the climate control buttons positioned just below the air vents. The gear selector, the BMW Controller, the start button, the parking brake button and the drive mode selector also get a new design, all of it taking the X3 as its reference. At the top, what will catch our attention most is the new touchscreen for the infotainment system, now 12.3 inches, similar to the digital instrument cluster.

In the section devoted to safety and assistance systems, the BMW iX3 receives the latest updates to these systems first presented on the new X3 and which, in the iX3’s case, include as standard the Driving Assistant Professional with lane keeping assistance, active cruise control with Stop & Go, automatic speed assistant and route monitoring system. Meanwhile, the MyBMW app now offers more functions specific to this electric model.

The only part that has not changed is its electric propulsion system, which fits an electric motor delivering 286 CV and a torque of 400 Nm located on the rear axle, as well as the battery, with a gross capacity of 80 kWh, which offers a range of 460 km according to the WLTP test cycle. This battery can be charged using the onboard charger with alternating current at 11 kW, although it also accepts charging rates of up to 150 kW, which can add around 100 km of range in 10 minutes.

The best news about this update to the BMW iX3? It will keep its starting price of 73,300 euros for Spain, although current iX3 owners may well be tearing their hair out on seeing that these modifications will not affect its price.
