We drive the Polestar 4, a high-performance SUV coupé
Available in two power levels and drive configurations, the new model offers exceptional refinement, brilliant performance and generous interior space for comfortable travel.
Midway between the Polestar 2 saloon and the Polestar 3 SUV, the Polestar 4 is a high-performance, fully electric SUV coupé measuring 4.84 metres in length, 2 metres in width and 1.54 metres in height. Its most striking and original feature is that it has no rear window and instead features a panel finished in the same colour as the rest of the bodywork. Its wheelbase reaches 3 metres, which allows for a spacious cabin and a boot of up to 526 litres.
Like the rest of the range, the Polestar 4 also features a very distinctive
front end, with the light clusters bearing some resemblance to the Volvo models, featuring the characteristic “Thor’s Hammer” shape but split into two distinct blocks.
The side profile stands out for its well-proportioned, clean and aerodynamic lines, with 20, 21 or 22-inch alloy wheels, the latter reserved for the Performance Pack, in size 265/40. The most eye-catching part is undoubtedly the rear, which has no rear window. Instead, it has a panel painted in the same colour as the rest of the bodywork, topped by a small gloss black spoiler, which conceals its tailgate.
It features a
television camera that displays the images on a screen located in the interior rear-view mirror. It has the advantage of not being obstructed by possible interior obstacles, such as tall passengers, but, in exchange, it requires an adaptation period. Also in low-light conditions, the headlights of vehicles ahead cause a flickering in the image that is not entirely convincing, although in rain or snow it shows a fairly clear image.
Spacious interior
Its cabin is
very simple and elegant, with only the essential physical controls, which may pose some difficulty for people less familiar with digital interfaces. For example, adjusting the position of the electric wing mirrors requires using the screen and then the steering wheel controls. The same applies to steering wheel adjustment, the head-up display… Everything is a little more complex than if it had physical controls.
It also includes a
large 15.4-inch high-definition screen through which the car’s main functions are managed: climate control, sound system, navigation, etc., operated via the Android Automotive operating system with a high-performance processor. This system enables OTA (Over The Air) updates for both multimedia and driver-assistance systems.

Two versions available
It is offered in
200 and 400 kW versions, equivalent to 272 and 544 CV respectively. The less powerful version (Single Motor) has a rear motor; the more performance-oriented one (Dual Motor) also features a front axle motor with the same power as the rear one. The Dual Motor version allows the front motor to be disconnected to improve consumption when traction conditions do not require it, thus extending range. Both variants feature a high-capacity NMC battery of 102 kWh gross (94 net), which allows them to achieve homologated ranges of 590 and 620 kilometres respectively, as the homologated average consumption is 18.7 kWh/100 km for the Single Motor and 17.8 kWh/100 km for the 400 kW Dual Motor. As for the maximum torque, the versions deliver 343 or 686 Nm, depending on whether it is the single or dual motor version.
The
Performance Pack, available for the more powerful variant, includes 22-inch wheels and more powerful brakes, and enables 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, while the Single Motor does it in 7.4 seconds.
Thanks to the excellent aerodynamics of the Polestar 4 (Cx=0.26), it has a top speed limited to 200 km/h and a towing capacity of 1,500 kg for the Single Motor and 2,000 kg for the Dual Motor.
As for DC charging capacity,
the manufacturer guarantees a maximum power of 200 kW, which would allow it to charge from 10 to 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes. For its part, three-phase AC charging is 22 kW, meaning a full charge would take around 5.5 hours.
Well equipped
To offer an extensive range of safety and driver-assistance systems, it features 12 cameras
, a radar and 12 ultrasonic sensors, with traffic sign recognition, unintentional lane change assist, cross-traffic alert, assisted parking, head-up display, and more.
As a fine electric vehicle, it offers magnificent performance, with linear and progressive acceleration, excellent regenerative braking and a very high top speed. All of this without noise, without vibrations, and with incredible smoothness.
The precision of the steering, the braking power and feel, and the effectiveness of the suspension
make driving especially pleasant at all times, delivering an uncommon level of safety and enjoyment.
As for prices, the single-motor versions are available from 65,090 euros, while the Dual Motor reaches 72,900 euros. The Performance Pack, only available for this more powerful variant, costs 4,500 euros, while the rest of the available packs are offered in both versions: the Pilot Pack at 1,500 euros; the Pro Pack at 2,000 euros; or the Plus Pack, priced at 5,500 euros.
