Coinciding with the Geneva Motor Show, Audi has announced the launch of the SQ7, the most powerful and sporty version of the largest SUV the brand offers.

It is a true technological showcase for the brand, displaying all kinds of advances with which the SQ7 places itself at the top of its category.

The Audi Q7 already had, in its previous generation, an ultra-powerful version powered by diesel. In fact, it was larger and more powerful than the one we present today. Do you remember? It was called Q7 V12 TDI, and it featured a monstrous 6.0 V12 twin-turbo engine producing 500 CV. Without a doubt, those were different times.

Now, coinciding also with the diesel crisis facing the VW Group, the brand of the four rings wants to show that this fuel is not dead and that it still has a lot to offer. Its greatest exponent is this SQ7, the sporty variant of the large German SUV, which has the honor of standing as the most powerful diesel SUV in the world today.

Externally, the SQ7 stands out from its siblings in the range thanks to a styling package that includes sportier bumpers, specific chrome details, 22″ alloy wheels, mirror housings in aluminum finish, and an exhaust system with quad outlets. Inside, the sports steering wheel and seats stand out, although the sportiness is more subdued.

The SQ7 stands as one of the most technologically advanced vehicles on the global market

It is under the bodywork where the SQ7 delivers its best performance to be crowned as one of the most technically advanced vehicles in the world. To the new lightweight platform, with systems such as permanent all-wheel drive and four-wheel steering, is now added a new 4.0 V8 TDI engine with no less than 435 CV and 900 Nm.

These are staggering figures, but there is more. The SQ7’s engine features triple supercharging, thanks to two turbos and the first electrically driven compressor in history, which makes the 900 Nm available from 1,000 rpm in a constant and stable manner. This innovation also completely eliminates the “turbo lag”, resulting in an instantaneous response to throttle demands. This compressor is powered by an on-board 48 V subnetwork, also unprecedented in a production vehicle.

Performance confirms this, with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. Consumption is also record-breaking, with a homologated combined figure of 7.4 litres per 100 km. The price for Spain of this technological package is not yet known, but it will be around €100,000.

El SQ7 es un SUV espectacular en cualquiera de sus versiones, pero 4.8 segundos en este tipo de vehiculos, ya es una cifra a tener muy en cuenta.
