Dacia prepares for the future: the new Dacia Bigster Concept and technological innovations
Like Renault, the Romanian brand has presented its plan for the next five years, which includes the new model and new technology.

At the Renaulution event, which served as the presentation for the innovations the brand is preparing for the coming years, and where the spotlight seemed to be focused on the revival of the legendary Renault 5 in electric form, Dacia also had its moment to announce the innovations awaiting us at the Romanian brand, which belongs to the French group. Among them, the Dacia Bigster Concept that the brand announced and that we saw yesterday.
The strategy presented by Dacia sets out its intentions for the next five years. The brand wants to take a step forward and continue to be a benchmark for buyers who want reliable cars at a very competitive price, something that has worked very well for them over the last fifteen years, as we saw in the review of Dacia’s presence in Spain.

Among Dacia’s achievements is a cumulative sales total of 7 million units in Europe, and having the Sandero as its flagship, one of the best-selling cars in the private buyer channel in several countries, and the Duster, an SUV that stands as the best-selling model in its range. But now they want to go further, gain more market share and offer more and better models.
Plan for the next five years
Over the next five years, Dacia will continue working as it has until now, and the foundations of its growth will be the following:
- A very measured and sober design to cost approach to achieve the maximum results from the investment made.
- The creation of the Dacia-Lada unit to create synergy between both brands and strengthen their presence in the market, taking advantage of existing technologies and those arising from the group’s investments.
- Both brands will use the new CMF-B platform, which is the one used by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. With this decision they will go from using 4 platforms to just 1, which will improve competitiveness. It will also reduce the number of bodies, from 18 to 11 different models.
- This platform will allow the use of powertrains better suited to current times, with the possibility of being fully electric or using other alternative fuels, as before.
The update of its range, with the new generations of the Sandero and Duster, plus the brand’s first electric vehicle, the Dacia Spring, and the new model it has presented, the Dacia Bigster Concept.
Dacia Bigster Concept
The flagship of Dacia will soon be the Bigster Concept, an urban SUV that will arrive within this five-year window and will use the CMF-B platform, which the Sandero and Duster will also use, as well as the Clio and the Captur. It is a vehicle that measures 4.6 metres and will serve as the basis for a range of engines, from hybrid-electric to those running on alternative fuels.
What is expected is that this model will maintain one of the brand’s greatest advantages: an affordable price in line with the rest of the models offered by Dacia.
