Ecomotion by Ayvens 2026: efficiency, consistency and excitement in a test shaped by real-world mobility

We took part in the Ecomotion by Ayvens Research Lab 2026 with a Ford Ranger PHEV, an event that once again brought together brands, journalists and electrified vehicles to prove that efficiency is decided on the road.

The Ecomotion by Ayvens Research Lab 2026 once again showed that efficiency depends not only on technology, but also on driving, strategy and the ability to adapt to a demanding route. The test, held on June 11 and 12, brought together 23 brands and 28 electrified vehicles on a route of just over 300 kilometres between the Community of Madrid and Castilla y León, starting from Ayvens’ facilities in Leganés with an intermediate stop in Olmedo, Valladolid.

In this edition, the event launched a new phase as a knowledge laboratory, without losing the competitive spirit that has made it a benchmark event for brands, specialist journalists and mobility experts. The aim was to measure vehicle efficiency under real driving conditions, combining consumption, consistency and adherence to the timings set by the organisation.

Minimum consumption, maximum efficiency

The winners of 2026 were the Cupra Tavascan VZ in the pure electric category, the BYD ATTO 2 DM-i BOOST among plug-in hybrids and the Jeep Compass Altitude in the hybrid and mild hybrid category. All of them stood out for their ability to reduce consumption compared with the official WLTP homologation figures.

Ecomotion 4

Among the participants was also Highmotor, one of the websites of BOOSTERS GROUP, which took part in the test at the wheel of a spectacular Ford Ranger Wildtrack. It was one of the largest, most eye-catching and attractive vehicles in the convoy, although its chances of achieving an outstanding result were limited from the start. The reason was clear: it competed in the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) category against models far more focused on efficiency. With just 60 kilometres of electric range, once the battery was depleted its powerful 2.2-litre petrol engine took over, which inevitably penalised its consumption in a test of this kind.

Ecomotion 6

Even so, the experience was especially interesting. The route was spectacular, with varied roads and an approach that combined efficiency and consistency tests. In this context, the representative of Ford Spain, Marta Guitart, did an excellent job at the wheel, precisely managing the vehicle’s resources and demonstrating that even a large pick-up can competently tackle an efficient driving challenge when approached with concentration and technique.

Sustainable mobility also depends on how you drive

The organisation once again lived up to an event already well established in the Spanish motor calendar. With expert Fernando Lobón leading the coordination, the event ran with precision, technical control and a format that allowed vehicles to be assessed on equal terms. The presence of accredited timekeepers, transponder tracking and supervision of charging and refuelling reinforced the rigorous nature of the test. One of the most moving moments of this edition was the tribute to the recently deceased Pepe Barba, a motoring journalist who was a regular at events of this kind. His memory was very present among colleagues and participants, who wished to pay tribute to a professional deeply connected with the automotive world and with gatherings like this one.

Ecomotion 2

The Ecomotion by Ayvens Research Lab 2026 once again put a fundamental idea on the table: sustainable mobility depends not only on the type of vehicle, but also on how it is driven. Technology, planning, consistency and knowledge of the car are decisive factors in reducing consumption and moving towards more efficient mobility.

In an edition with high participation from brands, electrified models and specialist professionals, the test made clear that the future of the automotive industry lies in combining innovation, sustainability and real driving experience. And although the Ford Ranger Wildtrack from Highmotor was not a favourite given its characteristics and category, its presence added one of the most striking and distinctive profiles of an edition marked by efficiency, excitement and a great atmosphere.
